In 1997, when the Duxbury Bay Management Society was established, the 2.5-acre parcel was the only remaining waterfront property in Duxbury that allowed for easy access to the Bay. The DBMS campus was acquired and named in honor of William P. Ellison as a result of the generosity of the Ellison Foundation and many others. When the DBMS replaced its aging and dilapidated bulkheads and built a new boat basin and launching ramp along the southern edge of the campus in 2000, the campus was transformed. The school also acquired the properties on either side of the access road from Washington Street, which were previously owned by the school. When two old structures were demolished in July 2003, a new residential building was completed, and a state-of-the-art storm water management system was built, the campus was significantly improved. In 2006, DBMS launched a $5 million fundraising campaign to complete the school's master plan, which included the construction of safe and adequate facilities. After a lengthy fundraising campaign, construction was completed in time for the summer 2009 classes to begin on time. We were able to realize our vision of a modern, energy-efficient building that would house accessible classrooms, an erg room, Clifford Hall, administrative and commercial offices, locker room facilities, and a large garage thanks to the efforts of many volunteers, staff, and Board members. The Duxbury Bay Maritime School is tucked away in the heart of historic Duxbury and its charming bayside setting, making it one of the most popular venues on the South Shore. The campus is located on the shores of Duxbury Bay, Massachusetts. The Smith Building at Duxbury Bay Maritime School (DBMS) offers breathtaking views of Duxbury Bay and the surrounding area for all visitors to enjoy. Clifford Hall has an indoor space of 2400 square feet and an outdoor space of 600 square feet on the deck. The DBMS is fully compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Our front porch and paver area, both of which overlook the water, are also available for use – making them ideal for cocktail hour and/or a waterfront wedding ceremony on-site.

The Bayside is a fantastic venue to accommodate out-of-town visitors! If you're searching for somewhere to congregate after the party, the Moby Dick Pub or one of our function rooms are ideal! Your wedding shower, rehearsal dinner, or breakfast / brunch can all be held here. After the big event, one of our romantic Whirlpool Suites could be the ideal location to unwind! Sea Captain Uriah Howe originally built the Barn that now houses the Borsari Gallery in the early 1800s. The barn's first purpose was to serve as a commercial abattoir for Cape Cod and its environs. The Crowell family held the Sea Captain's home and abattoir for for a century, until it was purchased by Cape Cod local artist David Grose in 1960 and utilized to showcase his work. Bob and Kathy Borsari bought the property in 2008 and undertook a three-year renovation that was both elaborate and historically appropriate. The post and beam construction was lovingly restored to its original New England rustic elegance. The original pumpkin pine flooring was exposed, the century-old "ice box" was used, and the historic 1800s track & pulley system that was employed on the property when it was an operating abattoir was displayed. It was at this point that the barn's original beauty was revealed. While the original goal of the restoration was to create a setting that would allow Bob and Kathy to continue the history of presenting good art, it was clear by the end that they had produced much more than an art gallery. As a result, the Borsari Gallery was born: "Exceptional Image & Memorable Events." A pleasant and sophisticated environment with plenty of atmosphere; an ideal and surely unusual place for small gatherings of up to 100 people.
