King + Duke, a chef-owned restaurant from Atlanta’s Ford Fry, offers a seasonal dining experience in the heart of Buckhead. A 24-foot open hearth is the restaurant’s centerpiece, and our passion for cooking over wood comes through in every dish. Named after characters in Mark Twain’s The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, King + Duke nods to classic literature and American traditions. The locally sourced dishes harken back to the way food used to be prepared: cooking over fire is a primitive technique that lets the ingredients speak for themselves. Parties of up to 14 people can be accommodated in the private Drawing Room, which can be hired with a preset or open menu. This totally enclosed area is located on the upper floor and has historic oil paintings, plush chairs, a built-in library, and a flat-screen television that is accessible for use if desired. Miller Union is named after the former Miller Union Stockyards that occupied one full city block in Atlanta’s old meatpacking district in the 1880s. The stockyard building suffered a fire after the turn of the century and was later replaced with an industrial warehouse, typical of the time period. Miller Union, the restaurant, was founded in 2009 by Steven Satterfield and Neal McCarthy in the refurbished warehouse that sits on the former site and has since contributed to the evolution of the neighborhood.
