Hortus NYC was crafted to give every guest an individualized, unique experience. The restaurant’s first floor is centered around an open kitchen to create an extra ordinary dining atmosphere. We also have seating available at our Chef’s table for guests to gather and socialize intimately over amazing food and drinks. The second floor is where our main dining room is located. Here, you can order dishes with friends over good food, good drinks and conversations. Hortus is not just about great recipes and excellent ambiance. It starts from the ground up - we pride ourselves in providing a menu that delights the palate while celebrating sustainable and seasonal ingredients. We aim to push people to experience Asian flavors in a new-American style. Design: The name Hortus, Latin for garden, reflects the emphasis on freshness, and the theme of the garden runs through the interior. Hortus is a garden of earthly and ethereal delights. The contemporary design is stylish and comfortable. Divided into four distinct areas, the first floor is dedicated to bar dining with an open kitchen and a Chef’s Table for intimate group dining and special tasting menus. The second floor contains a sun-lit lounge where waiting for a table with a view of the adjoining outdoor garden is a pleasure—and a perfect place to enjoy small plates and afternoon tea (beginning in Fall 2018). The walls / surfaces have various textures such as industrial concrete, a bronze, gold brushed wall, and hand-restored over 100 years old vintage doors. We also offer our designer and custom-made furniture on-site or the space can be completely empty, it’s all based on your ideas and project LOFT 29 has been a staple venue spot for high-end clientele such as Versace, Elle Magazine, CBS, H&M, TJ Maxx, and many more.

Owner Randi Lee named his first independent restaurant after his great-uncle Leland Chin who settled his family in Oregon in the 1930s. Leland made a great success of his Portland restaurant Chin's Kitchen, building strong community through food, culture and storytelling. Leland Eating and Drinking House continues the family tradition of convivial hospitality providing a gathering place where neighbors can relax, unwind and be well-fed. Leland's New York Mediterranean cuisine is local and natural featuring in-house curing along with the preservation of local food and beverage. We pickle veggies, dry-age meats, and bake bread right in our kitchen. We buy fresh and make exactly what we need, with as little waste as possible.
