Cathedral Cultural Center is the banquet and events facility of Saint George Romanian Orthodox Cathedral, situated in Southfield, Michigan. The center has served the greater Detroit area for many years as a community gathering and celebration space open to the public, and has been described as a hidden jewel of Metropolitan Detroit's banquet and conference facilities. Two halls anchor the facility. The St. George Hall is the larger of the two, featuring cathedral-style ceilings, brass chandeliers with wall sconce accents, a parquet wood dance floor, and a large curtained stage suited for live bands, head tables, and DJs. The Metes Hall offers a more intimate setting with a built-in bar, its own parquet wood dance floor, and recessed ceiling lighting. When the shared wall between the halls is opened, the two combine into a single expanded space capable of accommodating up to 500 guests — with the flexibility to host more intimate gatherings of 50 as well. Ample free parking surrounds the complex. The venue hosts a wide range of events, from weddings, christening parties, and anniversary celebrations to business luncheons, cultural performances, craft fairs, and bridal shows.

  • Redford Theatre

17360 Lahser Rd, Detroit, MI 48219, USA
    • Spaces for 1,610 Guests
    • 1 Theater
    • 1 Historic Space

Built in 1927 and designed in the atmospheric style to evoke an outdoor Japanese theatre, the Redford Theatre is a historic Detroit movie palace that has been owned and operated by the Motor City Theatre Organ Society since 1977. The building retains its original Japanese-inspired murals, ornate chandelier lighting, and a 3-manual, 10-rank Barton pipe organ — installed when the theatre first opened to accompany silent films. The main auditorium seats 1,610 guests across a main floor, loge, and balcony, with no supporting pillars to obstruct sightlines from any seat. The 40-foot-wide proscenium stage is backed by a full 4-story dressing room tower with multiple rooms and restrooms. For film and multimedia events, the space is equipped with 35mm, 70mm, and 16mm projectors, digital cinema projectors, an advanced Dolby sound system, and a professional lighting console with 55 dimmers and LED fixtures. Free parking for 168 vehicles is available in two adjacent lots. The theatre's atmospheric ceiling — lit with stars and cloud projectors — recreates the signature effect for which architect John Eberson's atmospheric-style theatres became known in the 1920s. Two grand pianos are also available for performing events.
