The Chapel is made of warm cedar and rough-brushed aggregate, with leaf-dappled sunshine streaming in through glass doors that open onto outdoor patios, bringing it to life. A sculptural backdrop is provided by a stunning brushed stainless steel pipe organ. The Chapel is a spherical structure designed by Callister and Payne and completed in 1967. The emphasis is drawn to a center slightly raised altar by four curving redwood pews. Behind the gorgeous pipe organ is a little choir loft. The second floor of the building — accessible by both a formal staircase and an elevator — holds two event spaces suited to a range of gathering sizes. The Banquet Room accommodates up to 160 guests for seated dinners, featuring beautiful hardwood floors, large French door windows for natural light, and six dimmable chandeliers. A stage serves musicians or DJ setups, and an adjacent newly remodeled kitchen supports catering. The Lodge Room is a formal two-story space with a working theatrical stage, carpeted floors, a Baby Grand piano, and a balcony organ with full sound and lighting control boards.

The estate combines authentic Asian gardens, historic buildings, and a serene natural setting that sets it apart from conventional event venues in the Bay Area. Three event spaces accommodate gatherings of varying sizes, from intimate dinners to outdoor receptions of up to 180 guests. The Madrone Mound, an outdoor reception area tented from late fall through mid-spring, hosts evening events for up to 180 guests. The Cultural Exchange Center seats up to 50 guests for dinner and opens onto an outdoor viewing deck, while the Lower House (Dry Garden House) offers a more intimate setting for up to 40 guests. Ceremony and reception areas are wheelchair accessible. Hakone welcomes weddings, receptions, corporate events, and special occasions.
