Ernst and Antoinette Gruene built a home and barn on the property, and their sons went on to found the Thornhill Steam Mills that grew into the town of Gruene itself. Now owned by Dr. Daniel and Anna Lisa Tamez, the estate has been restored to its original 10-acre core and continues its family history of hosting the community.
