The Armature Works building, originally known as the TECO streetcar warehouse, performed a significant role for the City of Tampa as the Tampa Electric Street and Railway Company's repair and storage facility (formerly known as the Streetcar Barn). The barn played a crucial role in Tampa's growth by tying the nearby neighborhoods together. The system was discontinued in 1946 in favor of the vehicle, a more contemporary source of transportation. TECO sold the structure to Tampa Armature Works, a producer of phosphate machinery, in 1960. Armature Works has been restored to its original purpose and is now a mixed-use commercial facility that serves as the hub of the Heights area. The Armature Works is a completely renovated mixed-use structure that gives the storied Tampa Heights neighborhood new life. The historic building has been transformed into a renowned community destination with cutting-edge eateries, Heights Public Market, and new event spaces thanks to its unhindered perspective of the Hillsborough River. Over the years, the center has hosted the Kennedy's, Elizabeth Taylor, and Hank Williams, just to name a few. The residents of Middleburg have fostered a pristine public space for everybody to enjoy. OUR VENUE From intimate gatherings in the loft, to grand galas in the ballroom, the indoor facility can accommodate up to 320 people in the full venue depending on layout. Our facilities offer an elegant space featuring 24" soaring ceilings in the Grand Ballroom, 12,000+ square feet of facility space, private gardens and grounds, and elegant architecture that serves as a timeless backdrop to your core memories. The five acre property backs up to the Salamander Resort, is down the street from the historic Red Fox Inn, and includes a public pool, shaded picnic grounds with grills, two playgrounds, an open field, and secluded herb garden and patio - as well as ample private parking and all walkable to towns finest eateries and establishments. Our grounds provide a variety of ideal areas as well as large open outdoor space, allowing you to design the perfect layout for your special occasion. Our facilities can accommodate event tenting, outdoor parties, live music, pool parties, and meetings of any size or scope. Our catering partners are able to provide complete catering services for your occasion. Our property is equipped with a complete DJ setup, as well as a sound system that can be heard throughout the entire property. The fact that we don't hold large meetings is because that's not really our thing. However, we are the best at hosting groups of 20 or fewer people when a physical meeting space is required for a couple of hours. (For almost any size group, we can organize events that are completely laid back or ones that are jam-packed with activities – after all, we know where all of the best stuff is)
