Addison Farms Vineyard is a family-owned winery set on 55 acres in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Leicester, North Carolina, about 17 miles northwest of Asheville. The property has been in the family for four generations, since Addison Farmer and his parents purchased it in 1937. The vineyard planted its first acre in 2009 and opened its tasting room in December 2012, following its inaugural estate harvest in 2011. Today the estate grows five grape varieties — Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Sangiovese, Petit Verdot, and Petit Manseng — at elevations between 2,250 and 2,300 feet, producing 600 to 800 cases each year. Guests gather at a covered outdoor pavilion overlooking the vines, where the vineyard hosts live music, chef and food-truck collaborations, and seasonal wine dinners through its Thursday-through-Sunday season. The relaxed, dog- and family-friendly setting also lends itself to private gatherings on the farm just outside Asheville.
