Darioush is a story of the harmonious blending of traditions - a culture of graciousness and thoughtfulness and one rooted in the ideals of individualism and opportunity. Nowhere is the connection between wine and culture more evident than in the history of Persia. Discoveries dating to 5,000 B.C. in the Zagros Mountains of Northern Iran show that winemaking emerged as permanent communities replaced nomadic life and a new age of wine culture began. The history of wine accompanies the very concept of hospitality, inspiring art, poetry, culture, and winecraft for millennia to come. Darioush Khaledi was instilled at an early age with the winemaking craft of his father, inspired by wine culture in the literary city of Shiraz - in modern day Iran - and the ancient city of Persepolis. He became a lifelong collector, seeking out old-world wines infused with tradition and energized by modern technique. Aspiring to the ideals of the American dream, Darioush immigrated to America to seek out opportunities others overlooked. He was an entrepreneur determined to realize his dream, yet always eager to share his journey through his love of wine borne of rich heritage. In 1997, he and his wife Shahpar founded Darioush and began to realize a lifelong aspiration to share the art, architecture, wine, craftsmanship, and culture that inspired their journey. In the late 1990's Darioush and winemaker Steve Devitt made an unorthodox choice, to commit to Southern Napa Valley - choosing its cooler microclimates to develop their unique style. While the focus was in the north, he was headed south. Seeking opportunities others overlooked, Darioush and Steve focused intently on site selection and cooler microclimates in Southern Napa Valley; high atop Mount Veeder and the maritime-influenced Valley floor. Replanting where necessary to unlock the full potential of both the vineyard and wine grape cultivated from it. They committed to a Bordeaux-style of winemaking - a blended style they long admired for the potential to truly express a wine's character. Now these years later, the Darioush estate comprises 120 acres in Southern Napa Valley spanning the Mount Veeder and Oak Knoll AVA's. They believe truly unique wines reflect great vineyards, but also the character of the people behind them. This spirit finds its home in a vineyard estate, an environment of warmth and hospitality.

The present owners bought Boxwood Lodge and its 51 acres at the auction in order to preserve the land and maintain all tracts and buildings under a single ownership. They wanted to bring back the splendor of Boxwood Estate and preserve both its heritage and its hidden gem for future generations. Since 2002, the manor, cabin, carriage house, and grounds have all undergone extensive renovations that adhere to "standards for rehabilitation and is consistent with the historic character of the property or district in which it is located." Our locations are multi-purpose and may be utilized for a variety of events like weddings, parties, receptions, showers, and more. Our exquisite Rivers Ballroom, located on the 7th floor of the prominent WestEdge building, boasts gorgeous floor to ceiling windows with views of the Charleston city skyline and waterfront. The Ballroom may easily be partitioned into smaller sections for private gatherings or left open for parties of up to 300 people, depending on the size of your guest list. The Rivers Ballroom is only one of the Club's many event venues. Our outside Terrace, which overlooks the Ashley River, is ideal for small ceremonies, cocktail parties, and, of course, photos. Are you looking for a more intimate wedding setting? The Club has a number of smaller, wonderful locations where you can celebrate, such as our High Garden private dining room in Ashley's Gate or our Ideation Room, which is ideal for a small cocktail gathering. The Harbour Club at WestEdge is the place to be for all things social. Our gorgeous new spaces were created specifically for your event! The Harbour Club offers event venues for all occasions, from the majestic Rivers Ballroom to High Garden, our intimate private dining area. The original Harbour Club, located at 35 Prioleau Street in downtown Charleston, first opened its doors in the summer of 1994. Those doors were closed after 25 glorious years, and our new Club, Harbour Club at WestEdge, opened on the 7th floor of the iconic 22 WestEdge building. The Harbour Club at WestEdge is a private business and social club designed to serve as a home away from home for the broader Charleston leadership community.
