DeLoach Vineyards
1791 Olivet Rd, Santa Rosa, CA 95401, USA- Spaces for 200 Guests
DeLoach Vineyards offers a variety of experiences to choose from, ranging from small gatherings to large corporate tastings and events. The 21-acre estate, located in the center of Sonoma's Russian River Valley, offers a stunning view of vineyards as well as a quiet environment that is ideal for any occasion, whether it is for two or 500 people. The DeLoach Vineyards team has been working with and developing the greatest mixes of soil, rootstock and clones in Sonoma's Russian River Valley for more than three decades, and they are proud of their accomplishments. After relocating from Burgundy, France to California's Russian River Valley in 2003, the Boisset family brought two generations of sustainable winemaking expertise with them. They planted vineyards on the estate that had just produced Wine Enthusiast magazine's 2004 wine of the year, DeLoach Vineyards' 30th Anniversary Cuvée Pinot Noir, to the Russian River Valley. While the award-winning vineyards were being replanted with cover crops in order to regenerate the soil, DeLoach teamed with other winegrowers who were equally committed to and passionate about environmentally responsible farming practices and the creation of high-quality wines. The winery was recognized as a Top 100 Winery for the twelfth time in the winery's history by Wine & Spirits magazine, which was published in 2012.

Alpine Ranch
5241 St Helena Rd, Santa Rosa, CA 95404, USAAlpine Ranch, built in the 1980's, was a premier Arabian horse facility, known as Palo Verde, designed as a breeding stable, with 95 stalls, a show barn, 1/4 mile track and formal courtyard. Custom-milled cedar wood and stained-glass windows are still part of the architecture. The 1900's farmhouse, with original stone foundation, was originally the homestead for the largest ranch in what was known as Sonoma Counties' Alpine Valley. Today, Alpine Ranch is a working equestrian barn and vineyard; the Arabian show barn has been converted to an event space and the original farmhouse is a guest cottage. The large equestrian estate is available for a small number of events a year. The property is nestled in the Mayacamas mountain range between Calistoga, St. Helena and Santa Rosa. Your special event can be held in one of their cedar barns, the 13,000 square foot large open courtyard at the center of the equestrian complex, or in what was once the show barn for Arabian horses. Alpine Ranch is a working ranch and vineyard, in addition to being a great place to throw a party. They have horses, hay, rolling fields, and rambling, rustic space under the barn rafters to help make your celebration special and memorable. The farm house, built in the early 1900s, was the homestead for the original Alpine Ranch, which ranged hundreds of acres. At the corner of two idyllic Sonoma County roads, the three bedroom cottage overlooks California Oak trees and horse pastures. A two-night stay is included when you book your event. When the day finally arrives, the Distinct Locations team will ensure that all aspects of the property are in perfect harmony, and you will know you are in the perfect place.

Inglenook
1991 St Helena Hwy, Rutherford, CA 94573, USAGustave Niebaum was born on August 30 in Helsingfors (present-day Helsinki), Finland, into a Swedish-speaking family. Niebaum received his master papers from the Nautical Institute in Helsingfors, and was given his first command in 1864 to captain a ship headed through the Bering Strait to Russian America, later purchased by the United States as the Department of Alaska in 1868. He explores the land and water routes of this frontier region and begins a career in commerce. As ship's captain, Gustave Niebaum sails into San Francisco Bay, after traveling throughout Alaska and its surrounding islands, with a cargo of fur hides and sealskins worth $600,000, a fortune at the time. He settles in San Francisco and, along with several partners, founds the Alaska Commercial Company, which establishes trading posts and shipping lines in Alaskan territory. Within a decade of leaving Finland, Niebaum is a multi-millionaire with a refined taste for life and a dream of building an American winery to rival the great chateaus of Europe. Niebaum buys the Inglenook property as well as the adjoining Rohlwing Farm for $48,000. After extensive travel and study, Niebaum chooses Inglenook's site, intuiting its extraordinary potential for growing grapes. He continues to acquire smaller parcels of neighboring land over the next several years so that by 1887 he ownsed 1,100 contiguous acres, spending a total sum of about $60,000. Fluent in several languages, Niebaum assiduously collected books on every aspect of winemaking, assembling a private library considered to be one of the most valuable on viticulture and oenology. John Daniel Jr.—Niebaum's grandnephew, who assumes management of Inglenook in 1939—eventually donates this library to the University of California at Davis. Inglenook's Chateau winery was conceived to be a state-of-the-art facility. The Chateau's design is based on gravity-flow, one of the first of its type in Napa Valley, and includes an early form of rebar—using cable from cable-cars in San Francisco—to stave off earthquake tremors and to help the building shift safely. True to his fastidious nature in each step of the winemaking process, Niebaum devises California's first grape-sorting table and also installs the state's first bottling line to ensure the wines' provenance from growth to bottle, the latter always bearing the California Pure Wine Stamp and secured with an intricate wire maze to guarantee the wine's integrity. After almost 200 years, Inglenook is still a prominent, luxurious winery in Napa Valley.

Opus One
7900 St Helena Hwy, Napa, CA 94558, USAOpus One is the realized dream of two men: Baron Philippe de Rothschild of Chateau Mouton Rothschild in Bordeaux and Napa Valley vintner Robert Mondavi. Together, the founders set out to create a single wine dedicated to the pursuit of uncompromising quality. This mission shapes every vintage, today and for generations to come. Rising gently from the earth around it, the Opus One winery does not rush to reveal itself. The building sits in harmony with its natural surroundings, offering a soft transition from the vineyard to its lush, green grass exterior. Just as it honors the land, it honors the light. Great winemaking begins in the vineyard. When the founders created Opus One, they dreamed of a great wine that would transcend generations. Nearly four decades later, they continue to refine the complex subtleties of Opus One by honoring traditional methods and the continual pursuit of innovation and improvement. The estate vineyards of Opus One, comprised of four parcels, sit in the western portion of the famed Oakville AVA. Two parcels, totaling 100 acres, are within the renowned To Kalon Vineyard. These are complemented by the combined 70 acres of the Ballestra and River parcels, which envelop the winery. In the vineyards, hand-harvesting and other traditional approaches are taken wherever they work best. When modern techniques benefit the wine-growing process, they are researched, evaluated, and integrated into practice. Guided by the vision of the founders, the winemaker, Michael Silacci, combines intuition and technical acumen with the dual perspective of viticulturist and winemaker. From tasting berries to careful sorting and extended aging in new French oak barrels, each stage of the winemaking process is afforded the same meticulous consideration and attention. After 18 months, the wine is bottled and held for an additional 15 months until release on October 1st each year. As farmers and artisans, deeply concerned with the collective future, Opus One recognizes that sustainability practices benefit the winery, its neighbors, and its customers. The culture and internal practices at Opus One reflect their commitment to conservation and responsible consumption in the areas of energy, water, waste management, transportation, purchasing, and food. They have been certified as a green winery as part of the Napa Valley Vintners- Napa Green Initiative and is implementing more than 100 favorable and environmentally friendly procedures.

Maple Lawn Estate

The vast Magnolia Terrace, located just east of the blue-and-white palace, is Maple Lawn's crowning achievement. It is a true jewel in the crown of the garden. Following a winding path through an ornate iron gate, the first thing that meets you is a profusion of brightly colored, blossoming hedges. A elevated, canopied patio lies just ahead, and going out beyond it is a wonderfully beautiful grass, which is flanked on three sides by mature magnolia and camellia trees, which adds to the tranquility of the setting. A wide brick promenade runs right through the center of the field, and it is embellished with two multitiered fountains, each of which is crowned with dramatic statues of Greek goddesses. Friends and family seated on the grass will be awestruck when you walk down the center aisle to meet your partner beneath a neoclassical arch, creating a breathtaking setting for your wedding ceremony. Following the exchanging of vows, your guests are encouraged to toast your new life with a drink of bubbly on the balcony afterward.

Churchill Manor
485 Brown St, Napa, CA 94559, USAEdward Churchill and his wife, Mary, moved to Napa from Rochester, N.Y., in 1878, when he became the cashier of the James H. Goodman Bank (later sold to the Bank of Italy), which in 1930 became the Bank of America. He and Mary built the Churchill Manor in 1889 on Brown Street (then named Grant Street), considered to be the original street of the Napa founders. Neighboring mansions included one owned by George Goodman of the Goodman Library on First Street, and the Manasse Mansion, built by an executive of the Sawyer Tannery. At nearly 10,000 square feet, Churchill Manor was reputedly the largest home in the Napa Valley at the time. After finishing it, Churchill built what is now known as Cedar Gables, which he presented to his son as a wedding gift in 1891. Times were good for these early aristocrats. The Napa River was an active steamship route, and San Franciscans would sail up the Napa River to attend large parties at the Churchill Manor. Churchill also owned the Golden Ribbon Beer Company and the Tokalon Vineyard near Rutherford. He died suddenly in 1903, when, in a flu-induced delirious state, he mistakenly drank from a bottle of carbolic acid. His wife and daughter continued to live at the Manor and later his granddaughter, Dorothy, lived there. It is rumored that the family suffered financially during the Depression and Prohibition. In any case, Dorothy began to take on boarders. Most of these were teachers, who by all accounts lived a rather “Bohemian” lifestyle. She began to rent the beautiful mansion out for large weddings. The residence left the Churchill family in 1956. The next several tenants included the Napa State hospital, a commune and a group of male college students who earned rent by hosting weddings there. The Mansion, however, was falling apart, and plans were made to tear it down for apartments. Horrified preservationists went to work to save it, and the Churchill Manor became the first Napa residence to be placed on the National Registry. A Hawaiian couple bought the Mansion in the 1980s, intending to refurbish it for use as a bed and breakfast inn. By that point, the neighborhood had fallen from its former glory and was considered to be a bad part of town. The project was more than the couple could handle and they threw in the towel in 1987. About this time, Brian Jensen, an engineer and contractor from Montana, had been living and working on the Peninsula. He had done some remodeling work for Joanna Guidotti, then a vice president and tax attorney with Bank of America, and the two had started dating. Although he liked many things about the Bay Area, Jensen was homesick for the kind of community spirit he’d known in Montana. He loaded his pickup truck and drove from city to city looking for it. He found it in Napa and invited Guidotti to join him here. The two were having breakfast one morning when Guidotti saw the ad for the Mansion in the Register. They drove by to check it out, made an offer on it, and moved in on New Year’s Eve in 1987. Although the museum quality redwood interiors fortunately had not been damaged, the place was in bad shape. Part of the floor on the second story bowed over six inches. It rained inside the sunroom as much as it did outside. The two set to work and within a month had their first room ready for rent, which they offered for $75 a night. By spring the following year, weddings were again being held on the grounds. A few years later, Jensen tried his hand in the kitchen, hoping to reduce some of the catering costs. Today, couples book there in part because of his skills as a chef, and guests report that they use his recipes, such as Flambeed Amaretto Shrimp, in kitchens all over the country. Thanks to their hard work, the home has been restored and is one of the most beautiful architectural treasures in Napa. Every room is a work of art. By their count, Jensen and Guidotti have hosted 1,000 weddings that 100,000 people from all over the world have attended, and Guidotti has coordinated all of them. They credit their staff, most of whom have been there for over 10 years, with much of their success. Over the years, Churchill Manor has been recognized in virtually every “best of” lodging guidebook in the country. Everything they do in and to the house has to hold up to a litmus test of being functional, pristine and preserving antiquity. Although both are intense about their work, they are warm, caring and easy conversationalists: the perfect hosts for a bed and breakfast.
