    Gay Head Lighthouse

9 Aquinnah Cir, Aquinnah, MA 02535, USA

Climb a steep metal stairway to the top of the light - magnificent colorful clay cliffs will take your breath away - or come back on weekends to witness the sun drop into the water during the magic hour. Couples looking for a unique wedding ceremony and photography location flock to the lighthouse. The first lighthouse built on Martha's Vineyard was the Gay Head Lighthouse. Maritime traffic had expanded to the point where Peleg Coffin of Nantucket addressed his Congressman in 1796, requesting that a light be placed at Gay Head because both islands were heavily involved in the whaling industry. President John Adams signed a contract with Hingham's Martin Lincoln to construct a timber lighthouse with a keeper's cottage and outbuildings. The light was turned on for the first time on November 7, 1799. Paul Revere supplied some copper and tin to supplement the Light's weatherproofing after it was constructed. Allen Farm Sheep and Wool Company

    421 S Rd, Chilmark, MA 02535, USA

Martha’s Vineyard’s oldest continuously working family farm, the Allen Farm in Chilmark consists of 100 acres of rolling pastures and meadows bounded by historic stonewalls, upper Chilmark Pond and the Atlantic Ocean beyond. Jonathan Allen originally purchased the farm in 1762, and ten years later his oldest son, Tristram, built the timber-framed farmhouse, which still sits just off of South Road in Chilmark. We restored the house in 1998, incorporating grey water and Clivus Multrum composting systems into the ancient fabric of the historic structure. The farmhouse and all its attendant outbuildings are very representative of the heritage of traditional New England farmsteads. In 1975 Clarissa Allen, then in her early twenties, inherited the farm and together with her husband Mitchell Posin, they began the difficult and challenging task of bringing to fruition their vision for a viable and sustainable working farm.

Scott has been a chef for the last 18 years and has worked at various restaurants in New York City that have earned a Michelin star. Some of these places include Jean-Georges flagship restaurant on Columbus circle and Charlie Palmer's Aureole. His most recent position was as executive chef at Sutton Inn, where he was awarded two Michelin recommendations, a four-star rating from the Daily News, and was named one of Manhattan's top 10 American restaurants by OpenTable for five years in a row. In 1971, we constructed the first version of this home on property that belonged to the family... I have been a permanent resident of this area ever since that time. In 1989, we completely refurbished the home and expanded on to it in order to turn it into a seven-room inn that is light, clean, and spacious. The structure has always had an expansive covered wrap-around porch on the east and north sides. This porch, combined with the other common spaces and lawns, provides sufficient room for visitors to enjoy an evening of unhurried activity. As a result of our location at the very western tip of the island, we are privy to some of the most breathtaking scenery, panoramas, beach breezes, and sunsets in all of Martha's Vineyard.

    Potowomut Golf Club

439 Ives Rd, East Greenwich, RI 02818, USA
    • Spaces for 225 Guests

Potowomut Golf Club has been a fixture of Rhode Island golf since 1927, when a group of golfers built a private course on rolling terrain near Narragansett Bay, in the Potowomut section of Warwick. The 18-hole, par-71 course was designed by Walter Johnson, a disciple of architect Donald Ross, and has been carefully restored over the decades while staying true to its founding character: small, fast greens and a walking tradition that rewards strategy over length. While membership defines daily play at Potowomut, the club opens its course and clubhouse to non-members for weddings, corporate golf outings, and private celebrations. Golf outings get full course access with shotgun starts or tee times, practice facilities, and professional starter and ranger support, while receptions and dinners move into the clubhouse private dining room and patio, which overlooks the 18th green. Catering is handled in-house, with menus customized for each event and full bar service available, and every event is guided by a dedicated event coordinator from proposal through event day.

Danversport, which is owned and maintained by the DeLorenzo family, began as a dream more than 50 years ago when Joseph DeLorenzo envisioned a particular spot for the community to celebrate life's significant occasions. He and his wife Barbara eventually bought this lovely piece of property and began construction on a "big band" type dance hall and marina. The Danversport Yacht Club first opened its doors in 1970, and it rapidly became a popular spot for supper, dancing, and live music. Danversport has thrived and evolved throughout the years to accommodate weddings and special events of all sizes. We're now in the third generation of the DeLorenzo family, and we're just as committed to giving exceptional experiences in a spectacular environment as Joseph was. We're also enthusiastic about the actions we're doing to better our business and assist our community by utilizing solar renewable energy, recycling, and vegetable gardening. Above all, we're honored to continue assisting you in celebrating and making amazing memories. We hope you have a great day in Danversport! Thank you very much for your business.

It has been our joy to politely serve the New England comforts both appreciated by locals and admired by visitors for decades and years to come, as we are rooted in the Massachusetts community. “Best west suburban steak house. • Spaces for 150 Guests

The Smith-Appleby House Museum is an 18th-century historic house in Smithfield, Rhode Island, built beginning in 1702 and home to seven generations of the Smith and Appleby families until 1959. The family's line traces back to John Smith, known as 'The Miller,' who emigrated from Massachusetts with Roger Williams in search of religious freedom. Inside, the house preserves soot-stained beams and time-worn hearthstones in its keeping room, decorative lambs tongue woodwork, and a chalk signature left by Hugh Whipple in October 1755. The Historical Society of Smithfield, founded in 1932 by 49 charter members from prominent Rhode Island families, purchased the deteriorating property in 1976 from a descendant of charter member Myra Appleby and restored it through community fundraising and volunteer labor. Today the house serves as the Society's headquarters and museum, preserving local artifacts and Smithfield history for public education. The grounds host a Summer Concert Series on Wednesday evenings, monthly Sunday Open Houses, and private wedding ceremonies, and are available by reservation for photographers seeking a historic New England backdrop for portraits.
