Welcome to the Woodhouse Lodge, a hotel for friends from near and far located in Greenville, New York. Built in 1962 as a modern escape for city dwellers, the property has been transformed into a 10 room shaker meets mid century modern hotel, restaurant and bar tucked in the rolling hills of the Catskill Mountains. Children 8 and older are welcome. The Woodhouse lodge is located 30 min west of the Hudson NY Amtrack train station. We are remote enough to get your fill of fresh air activities like hiking, swimming holes, antiquing, drive-in movies, on site dining and outdoor attractions. In addition to being a unique place to sleep, the lodge serves as a gathering place and occasional hub of community activity, weddings and special events. The story of Bearsville is the story of Albert Grossman, a music entrepreneur and manager of musicians. High in the Catskill Mountains surrounded by forests and streams, Albert established a creative and nurturing community in which his artists could live and work. He built cabins, a record label, and created the Bearsville Studios. Bob Dylan moved to Woodstock to take advantage of his vision, and artists like Janis Joplin, Allen Ginsberg, Johnny Cash, George and Pattie Harrison followed his lead. Albert then planned an acoustically perfect Bearsville Theatre, where he could showcase his artists. Hilltown Commons is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit retreat and arts campus set on 100 acres in the historic village of Rensselaerville, in New York's Upper Hudson Valley — roughly 2.5 hours from New York City and 45 minutes from Albany. The campus traces its roots to 1924, when Laura Talmage Huyck opened her home to host "Country Forums on Human Relations," and has evolved through a century of programming centered on dialogue, learning, and community. The Guggenheim Pavilion anchors the campus with a fully A/V-equipped 180-seat auditorium, a renovated gallery, two large meeting rooms, a grand piano, and a dozen private offices available individually or as a package. The Pub occupies the Huyck family's original carriage house and seats up to 120 guests, serving chef-driven seasonal menus alongside natural wines, local beers, and specialty cocktails.
