Thurman's Mansion is a 7,000-square-foot, two-story native limestone building in Driftwood, Texas, named for the late Thurman Roberts, founder of the Salt Lick BBQ. Originally intended as the Roberts family home, the mansion was repurposed as a wedding and event venue and remains a member of the Salt Lick family today. Ceremonies take place overlooking the property's Hill Country vineyard, with couples exchanging vows as the sun sets over the surrounding hills. Wedding packages include use of the space for four and a half hours with a two-hour early arrival window for vendors, sixty-inch round tables set with white linens, bone china, and silverware, and draped tables for the gift, registry, cake, and head table. Couples hosting ceremonies on-site also receive use of bride and groom quarters beforehand, along with chair setup and an optional archway at the ceremony site. Established in 2009 when the Alderman family opened the estate to the public, the property sits 50 miles north of Tallahassee and combines a working quail hunting plantation with an event venue capable of hosting weddings, reunions, and private gatherings. The grounds center on a 7,000-square-foot lodge constructed in 2008, surrounded by a courtyard, a wedding chapel, and a pond that serves as a backdrop for ceremonies.
