The Junior League of Houston, Inc. is a group of women who are dedicated to advancing the causes of voluntarism, cultivating the potential of women, and bettering the communities in which they live via the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Only philanthropic and educational endeavors are under its purview. Since its founding in 1925, the Junior League of Houston has collaborated with a variety of organizations in order to provide assistance and services to individuals who are in need. This has allowed the organization to effect positive change through the efforts of its highly educated and empowered female volunteers. At the Junior League, we would love to host your next event! With a few notable exemptions, the Tea Room, the Ballroom, and the entire building are all available for daytime and evening gatherings, seven days a week, throughout the entire year. River Oaks Garden Club, a member of The Garden Club of America, was founded in 1927 and has made numerous contributions to the Houston community in the areas of conservation, horticulture, and civic beautification. River Oaks Garden Club is a member of The Garden Club of America. The proceeds from the Azalea Trail are used to support the following ongoing projects: Louise Stevenson, a founding member of the River Oaks Garden Club, was the driving force behind the organization's inception. She persuaded her next-door neighbor, Hennie Cottingham, to join her in forming some sort of civic beautification organization to address the critical need for civic beautification in the River Oaks neighborhood. When the Garden Club's first official meeting was held on October 27, 1927, it was attended by 29 members, and it marked the beginning of a thriving and growing organization that was eventually admitted into the Garden Club of America in 1938. The members of the club quickly gained knowledge in the areas of gardening, garden design, horticulture, and flower arranging, among other things. They used their newfound knowledge to encourage others to get involved in improving the planted environment in Houston. There are no commercial, political, or fundraising purposes permitted on the Forum. Teen parties are also prohibited on the Forum. The maximum number of people who can fit into the space is 175. HPD security will be provided, and all functions must be completed and the building cleaned and vacated by midnight on the day of the rental agreement. The building manager must approve any outside catering, and all rental equipment must be picked up after the event unless otherwise agreed upon with the building manager.

The Acacia banquet room at Peli Peli Houston seats up to 80 guests, boasts a drop-down presentation screen and includes it's own private bar. The Noah's Ark private room at Peli Peli Houston seats up to 40 guests and is the perfect room for a business meeting or social functions such as weddings, corporate dinners, company team meetings and baby and wedding showers and more.

ART NOUVEAU, French for "New Art" (pronounced New-Vo), spread throughout Europe and major American cities from circa 1890 to World War I, when it fell out of fashion. Appearing just before the Art Deco era it was, in many ways, a response to the Industrial Revolution. Artists, seeing machines and mass production as an enemy of art and design, turned to nature, fantasy, and curvilinear motifs to express their rejection of industry. Art Nouveau artists were among the first to create "art for art's sake" and its influence was found in paintings, architecture, glass, textiles, furniture, silver, china, jewelry, and others. Art Nouveau designers believed that all arts should work in harmony to create a "total work of art". After World War I, the Art Deco style took over and Art Nouveau was soon forgotten. Chef Jacques Fox was born in the North African city of "Sidi-Bel-Abbes" and raised in France by his Polish grandparents. Even before graduating from high school, Chef Jacques Fox demonstrated an early aptitude for cooking. Following high school, Chef Jacques enrolled in a two-year program at the College D'Enseignement Techniques in Tulle, France, to further his culinary education. When Chef Jacques graduated from his training program in 1975, he relocated to Paris, where he accepted his first chef position at Maison Prunier, a world-renowned seafood restaurant. In 1976, he joined Elitair Maxims, where he worked for four years before being promoted to executive chef. After leaving Paris in 1983, Chef Jacques went to work for Club Mediterrainnee (Club Med), where he had the opportunity to further develop his culinary skills and understanding of global cuisine at luxury resorts around the world, including those in Kamarina, Sicily; Noumea, New Caledonia; Port-au-Prince, Haiti; Farakulafushi, Maldives; Kos, Greece; Eilat, Israel; Cooper Mountain, United States; and Les Menuires et (Click on the "read more" link above to learn more.) The "Medieval Room I" can accommodate up to 12 people, while the "Medieval Room II" can accommodate up to 10 people. When the "Medieval Rooms" are combined, they can accommodate a total of 24 people. Mama La is the secret ingredient in each of our Kim Son Restaurants, and she can be found in every location. Kim Su Tran La was born in Vietnam, and she, her husband, and their seven children fled to Houston in 1980, fleeing the communist regime that had taken over their country at the time. Mother-in-law Mama La was able to memorize more than 250 recipes before opening the first KIM SON Restaurant, thanks to her extensive knowledge of Vietnamese cuisine, which she received from her in-laws. In a short period of time, her food amassed a large following of thousands of followers, as well as the admiration and loyalty of many of Vietnam's top restaurant cities. The first KIM SON store was located in Vinh Long, but it was eventually closed as a result of the communist takeover of the country in 1975. KIM SON has been recognized by a number of prestigious publications, including Bon Appétit, Esquire, and Food & Wine, and has been named "Best Vietnamese Restaurant" in Houston on an annual basis by the Houston Press. Currently, Mama La's culinary skills have allowed her restaurant group to expand to include four full-service restaurants, three banquet facilities, and four food court outlets throughout the greater Houston region.
