The property was purchased from Joy and Jesse McReynolds of the bluegrass duo "Jim & Jesse" — the venue's name is a nod to Jesse, since a fiddle player is traditionally called a "picker" in bluegrass music. The venue offers three areas to choose from, including a covered and heated pavilion, making it suited to both rustic and elegant celebrations in any season. A rustic log cabin on the property gives wedding parties space to get ready before the ceremony. Beyond weddings, The Pick Inn hosts receptions, corporate events, company picnics, reunions, showers, and birthday parties, with in-house services spanning catering, floral design through Pick Inn Petals, DJ services, and full setup and teardown coordination.

Perched atop the Republic Centre — Chattanooga's tallest building — The Walden Club is a private city club founded in 1975 by a group of local business and community leaders who envisioned a place of great food, personal service, and sky-high views of the city. From the outset, the club broke with the exclusionary norms of its era, welcoming members "without consideration of their race, sex, creed, or long local lineage." Today the club serves its members' social and professional life in equal measure, hosting everything from quiet luncheon meetings and small intimate dinners to large formal private parties and dances. Four distinct rooms give it that range: the grand Ballroom for weddings and galas, the Riverview Room overlooking the Tennessee River and Signal Mountain, the contemporary Tavern for cocktail-style gatherings, and the more intimate Tennessee and Forest rooms for private dinners and smaller functions. Members and their guests also have access to full dining service, with lunch and dinner offered several days a week, all set against panoramic views of downtown Chattanooga, Lookout Mountain, and the Southside Historic District.

The retreat center hosts overnight stays, family reunions, business retreats, weddings, and banquets across several gathering spaces, including the Main Lodge, Spring Creek, and the more-than-100-year-old Tobacco Barn. Its kitchen is led by chef Phila Hach, known for Southern, farm-to-table cuisine served on-site.
