The farm was established by John P. Hudson in the early 1860s, and the centerpiece dairy barn — built in 1945 by Cecil B. Hudson and his son Ray — now serves as the heart of the event property. The venue accommodates gatherings of 50 to 325 guests across a rustic ceremony barn, a spacious reception shed updated with modern amenities, and a bridal farmhouse for wedding-day preparation. Haley — Mayor of Joliet, attorney, and civic leader — and designed by nationally recognized architect Frank Shaver Allen, who made spectacular use of locally quarried limestone. Gaelic insignias cut into the front porch honor the Haley family's Irish heritage. The three-story, 8,600-square-foot structure features a distinctive tower, original stained-glass windows, intricate hand-carved friezes, and quality wood finishes throughout. Today the property is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and operates as a private event facility with 20,000 square feet of event space. The Grand Ballroom seats up to 350 guests and is appointed with crystal chandeliers, starry-sky accent lighting, billowing silk ceiling fabric, and a high-gloss tile floor suited for dancing.   The grounds surrounding the tower are open all year during regular Park District hours, and you are welcome to come out and listen to the carillon at any of the scheduled performances. Throughout the year, a Carillon Ambassador will assist the Carillon's operations and activities by communicating with visitors and giving presentations to groups visiting the Carillon. Carillon Ambassadors will receive special training for this chance.
