The Belvedere Estate, situated on more than 25 acres in Westchester County, is a one-of-a-kind property. The estate consists of a large house and many smaller structures scattered over the grounds, all of which include excellent historical elements from the 1920s. A wooded region and cliff with views of the broad Hudson River and the Tappan Zee Bridge provide a range of lovely and peaceful vistas. The Belvedere was once part of Philipsburg Manor, a 90,000-acre property and one of America's richest landholdings, and was built in the 1910s. Dr. Philip Gillette Cole bought it in 1928 and renamed it Zeeview. It was built by Florence and Casper Whitney and purchased by Dr. Philip Gillette Cole in 1928. The home at Zeeview looked out over the huge Hudson River and the "Tappan Zee" with ease. The Coles erected the Agora House and the Studio on the land and displayed their significant collection of American Western art, which was ultimately moved to the Gilcrease Museum in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The estate was purchased by Samuel Bronfman of the Seagrams Whiskey dynasty after Cole's death. After the Bronfmans' primary mansion in Toronto, the property was christened Belvedere. Belvedere became the headquarters of the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification in 1972. The Belvedere Estate is now a stunning event and meeting venue, perfect for receptions, wedding ceremonies, meetings, office parties, location and film shoots, and any other occasion requiring a stunning interior and external setting. 212 Steakhouse is proud to be the first and only Japanese Kobe Beef Marketing & Distribution Promotion Association member in New York, making us the only restaurant on the East Coast serving authentic Japanese Kobe Beef. Kobe beef is a delicate, dignified sweet lean meat that is complemented by the taste and aroma of melt-in-your-mouth fat. Its so-called "shimofuri" fat marbling is the key to its delectability. At low temperatures, the "sashi" fatty component of the flesh itself begins to melt. It will virtually melt in your mouth as a result of this. Its exceptional flavor is due to an abundance of irosinie and oleic acids, which have been scientifically proven. Our location, located in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, offers elegance and comfort in a charming setting for a memorable wedding or a variety of events. Our professional top-of-the-line team and chefs painstakingly construct every element to suit your style and budget in order to create a memorable event. Our mission is to provide every foodie with a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Our goal is to produce and promote a delicious and engaging dining experience.

    Strand Book Store

828 Broadway, New York, NY 10003, USA
    • Spaces for 100-200 Guests
    • 1 Event Space

The Strand's Rare Book Room is a perfect venue for weddings, celebrations, and private events. Spend your special evening surrounded by rare and antique books curated by Strand's resident experts. The Strand was established in 1927 on Fourth Avenue, in the heart of what was then known as "Book Row." Book Row was a six-block stretch of land that housed forty-eight independent bookstores. Ben Bass, the father, was only twenty-five years old when he started his modest used bookstore in his hometown of St. Louis. Entrepreneur at heart and voracious reader by nature, this erudite gentleman began with $300 dollars of his own money and another $300 dollars in borrowed funds from a friend. Ben wished to create a space where books would be cherished and book lovers could congregate in a welcoming environment. After the London street where avant-garde writers such as Thackeray, Dickens, and Mill once congregated as well as interesting book publishers, he named his bookstore after the same street. The Strand quickly established itself as a Greenwich Village institution, where writers gathered to converse, sell their books, and hunt for a hidden treasure to purchase and keep for themselves. Today, the Strand is the only remaining structure from Book Row's illustrious past. Ben's son, Fred, was already learning the ropes of the family business at the age of thirteen. He, too, was a book enthusiast who quickly entered the book trade. After serving his country in the Armed Forces, Fred returned home to New York, where he continued to work alongside his father in the family business. By 1957, Fred had relocated the store to its current location at 12th Street and Broadway, which is just around the corner. Eventually, Fred found himself spending the majority of his time at the purchasing desk, cultivating relationships with regulars and on the lookout for the next great find... In the following generation, Fred's daughter, Nancy, joined her father in the family business. When she finished college and spent a brief period in Louisiana, she returned to her hometown and joined the Strand team at the age of twenty-five. Today, she manages the store and feels privileged to be able to carry on her family's 90-year tradition. It's still up in the air whether one, two, or all three of Nancy's children will be the next in line to join the Strand organization.

    Union Square Park

900 3rd Ave, New York, NY 10022, USA

Union Square has been a gathering area for about 170 years—for trade, entertainment, labor and political rallies, and relaxation. The park gets its name from its location at the crossroads of two important New York City thoroughfares, Bloomingdale Road (now Broadway) and Bowery Road (now Fourth Avenue). Union Square first opened to the public on July 19, 1839. Its paths, which wind through lushly landscaped lawns, were inspired by London's affluent residential squares. The design concentrated on a big central fountain, which was constructed for the completion of the Croton Aqueduct in 1842, and accentuated the park's oval shape (contained by an iron picket fence). Union Square became a significant commercial and residential area as New York City's downtown extended northward. The grounds of Union Square have hosted a variety of public gatherings, including parades, labor protests, political rallies, and official events such as the United States Sanitary Commission's Great Metropolitan Fair in 1864. Because of its significance in American labor history, the United States Department of the Interior designated Union Square Park as a National Historic Landmark in 1997. The park line will be extended south 14th Street, and the traffic island on which the Gandhi statue now sits will be incorporated into the park.
