    Coonskin Park

2000 Coonskin Dr, Charleston, WV 25311, USA
    • Spaces for 60-150 Guests
    • 1 Outdoor
    • 3 Event Spaces
    • 4 Total Spaces

Set across more than a thousand acres of West Virginia woodland just ten minutes from downtown Charleston, Coonskin Park was built over fifty years ago by a group of Kanawha County residents and has since grown into a sprawling public park with a dedicated side for celebrations. Its event facilities center on the C. Richard Foutche Clubhouse. Inside are two rentable rooms, the Oak Room and the Hearth Room, each seating roughly 100 guests for weddings, receptions, and parties. Outdoors, a garden arranged for ceremonies seats up to 150 against a backdrop of surrounding forest, while the Family Center provides a smaller, fireside space for showers and family gatherings. Day-of logistics are handled on the grounds: wireless internet in the clubhouse, bar service arranged through the park, an approved-caterer list, and free paved parking for more than 200 cars. Trails, a fishing pond, a pool, and an amphitheater round out the setting, extending the day well beyond the event itself.

    Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort

2300 MacCorkle Ave SE, Charleston, WV 25304, USA
    • Spaces for 300 Guests

Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort sits about 25 minutes northwest of the Las Vegas Strip, on land owned and operated by the Las Vegas Paiute Tribe and spread across three championship golf courses designed by Pete Dye. Its events arm, Events by Paiute, adapts to the occasion — weddings, milestone celebrations, corporate retreats, and more casual gatherings all have a place here. Much of that range comes down to a facility built to reconfigure. The Mountain View Room (1,500 square feet) and the Lakeside Room (3,500 square feet) each work on their own for a smaller, private setting, then combine into a single 5,000-square-foot space when the guest list calls for a full banquet. Floor-to-ceiling windows line the rooms, bringing in clear-sky light by day and sunset color by night, while a private foyer entrance, an outdoor terrace, and an adjoining lawn extend the celebration outside. Additional settings widen the options further: a 3,500-square-foot restaurant and bar, two outdoor terraces, and a private conference room, all served by on-site A/V and Wi-Fi. Wedding ceremonies can move outdoors to the lawn, weather permitting, trading the indoor rooms for open air and the resort's golf-course surroundings.

    The Harpers Ferry Event Barn

1084 Washington St, Bolivar, WV 25425, USA
    • Spaces for 133 Guests

The Barn of Harpers Ferry is a working music room and full bar first, an event venue second — and that order is the point. Most weekends its wooden interior fills with live performers, a roster that runs from established touring acts to up-and-coming talent playing bluegrass, Americana, jazz, funk, blues, and reggae beneath string lights and chalkboard menus. Craft beer, a full bar, and welcoming bartenders keep the room easy. The rhythm carries through the week: an Old Tyme Session every Wednesday, an open mic on the second Sunday of each month, stand-up comedy nights, and the annual Highland Games every first Saturday in October. That same barn, set in the historic tri-state corner of Harpers Ferry where West Virginia, Virginia, and Maryland meet, opens up for private gatherings that range from intimate weddings to fundraisers, dances, birthday parties, and large festivals.

    War Memorial Building

War Memorial Building, 102 E German St, Shepherdstown, WV 25443, USA
    • Spaces for 100-120 Guests
    • 1 Ballroom
    • 2 Historic Spaces
    • 1 Art Gallery

Red brick rises to a gabled front on East German Street, at the center of historic Shepherdstown. The building went up in 1868 as the Methodist Episcopal Church; in 1947 the Men's Club of Shepherdstown bought it and renamed it the War Memorial Building for those who died in World War II. The Shepherdstown Community Club, a nonprofit, has maintained it as a community gathering place ever since. Two floors host events. At street level, the Gallery Room spans 1,370 square feet and holds up to 100 guests; a hanging system outfits the walls for art shows, while the open floor clears for cocktail receptions. Upstairs, the Grand Ballroom rises under 20-foot ceilings across 1,786 square feet and holds 120, its dance floor long known around town and its tables and chairs stored out of sight until an event sets up. A full catering kitchen adjoins the ballroom, and an elevator reaches the second floor. Renters book one floor or both.
