The 3,000-square-foot venue centers on a wide open floor plan beneath 35-foot vaulted ceilings with soaring heart pine rafters, posts, and beams. Three large garage doors open the space toward an adjoining plaza, flooding the interior with natural light and allowing the event footprint to expand outdoors under a tent when the occasion calls for it. Open Door Community House is a nonprofit community center located in Columbus, Georgia, offering its auditorium and kitchen for private event rentals. The property survived the Civil War undisturbed and operated its mills into the 1930s before the Walls family acquired it in 1995 and opened it for private events. The venue spans 100 acres with 2.5 miles of hiking trails, 11 camping cabins, and multiple indoor and outdoor event spaces accommodating between 2 and 200 guests.
