The heartbeat of the small Catskill town of Woodstock, Bearsville, and all that transpired in this small hamlet on the edge of Woodstock, created the music revolution of the sixties. The story of Bearsville is the story of Albert Grossman, a music entrepreneur and manager of musicians. High in the Catskill Mountains surrounded by forests and streams, Albert established a creative and nurturing community in which his artists could live and work. He built cabins, a record label, and created the Bearsville Studios. Bob Dylan moved to Woodstock to take advantage of his vision, and artists like Janis Joplin, Allen Ginsberg, Johnny Cash, George and Pattie Harrison followed his lead. Albert then planned an acoustically perfect Bearsville Theatre, where he could showcase his artists. Bearsville Theater was originally built for the music industry to experience the best that Albert’s vision could provide. HayLoft In The Grove is a restored mid-1800s timber-framed barn set on nearly 100 acres outside East Aurora, New York. Once a working dairy farm — and later a horse training facility with a quarter-mile sulky racing track — the property was purchased in 2007 by Jeni and Jason Burford, who chose to preserve the deteriorating structure rather than demolish it. Amish craftsmen undertook an extensive restoration beginning in 2008, retaining original handmade wooden pegs, mortise-and-tenon joints, and stone foundation. The grounds include cornfields, forests, three ponds, and expansive gardens. For events, the property offers an outdoor ceremony area with comfortable seating for up to 200 guests, set beneath a wooden arbor with chiffon drapes and a brass chandelier against a cornfield backdrop. The Stables — a former horse facility converted in 2019 — serves as an indoor gathering space with antique pews from the 1920s, wooden beams, and crystal chandeliers, along with dedicated bride and groom suites and covered outdoor patios with string lighting. Wedding packages include day-of coordination, three planning sessions, and access to an on-site rentals boutique. The Hill at Wright's Farm is situated on a 450-acre working farm in the center of the Hudson Valley, New York, and is surrounded by fresh peach trees in the summer and Mutsu, Mac, and Cortland apple trees in the fall. The Shawangunk Mountain Ridge serves as the backdrop to this landmark, and the view from there is so spectacular that the fields surrounding The Hill were kept unplanted in order to preserve the scenic grandeur of the surrounding area. The Hill got its start in 2014, when our daughter made the decision to have her wedding “on top of the hill.” The rest is history.
