If you've been dreaming of saying your vows outside, you can do so beside our Ceremony Pond's bubbling fountain if that's more your style. The Bridal Cottage, where you'll spend all those priceless moments getting ready with your closest friends and later returning with your husband as Mr. & Mrs., is nestled just adjacent to both places. We cordially invite you to celebrate with all of your wedding guests in the Barn in between the "I do" and the "Farewell," where you're sure to dazzle. Two porches with covers, exposed beams, wrought-iron Restoration Hardware chandeliers, rough-hewn white barnwood walls, and high ceilings are all features of The Barn. Even if we are speechless in awe of its beauty, it also performs flawlessly. One of Columbia's oldest estates, the Hampton-Preston property spans three acres of gardens filled with native and exotic plantings. Magnolias and live oaks tower over the grounds, including an extensive back lawn and side gardens, while pergolas, a gazebo, and a fountain garden give planners several distinct backdrops for ceremonies and receptions. The back lawn, lined with magnolia trees, accommodates outdoor events up to 400 guests, with a sunken patio offering recessed lighting and electricity for evening celebrations. A fountain garden provides seating beneath live oak trees, and a covered gazebo offers a sheltered garden setting. A renovated basement area adds restrooms, water fountains, and a private lounge and changing suite, and a restored mid-1800s arboretum with paved walking paths runs through the property. Electricity is available throughout the gardens, and Historic Columbia staff remain on-site for the duration of every event. From October through March, the property's Boyd Foundation Horticultural Center, a greenhouse that opened in March 2022, can be paired with a garden rental, seating 65 guests or hosting 130 standing, with two restrooms, a prep kitchen, and tables and chairs provided for indoor use.

The term “Blind Tiger” was coined in the late 1800s to describe the illicit drinking and gambling establishments opening their doors as temperance legislation swept across the country. The first “Blind Tiger” in South Carolina sprung up in the Holy City in 1893 as a defiant rebuttal to the dispensary laws. Local lore suggests Broad Street was home to many houses of “ill repute” throughout the years. In 1992, ninety-nine years after the first “Blind Tigers” appeared, the Blind Tiger Pub opened in its current location, paying homage to a historic tradition.
