1102 East is a wedding and event venue set on a historic property in East Austin, beneath a canopy of hundred-year-old pecan and native elm trees. Once home to the landscape design firm Big Red Sun, the grounds have been reimagined for events while keeping the character of the original 1930s bungalow and its mature gardens. The venue pairs indoor and open-air spaces for weddings, private events, chef-inspired dinner parties, and intimate live music concerts. A barn-inspired, steel-framed open-air structure offers a covered setting for dinners, ceremonies, and dance parties, while a newly expanded front garden entrance adds more than 2,500 square feet of landscaped event space. Little Chapel in-the-Woods You are entering a tradition as you go into the Little Chapel in the Woods. The chapel, on the outskirts of Texas Women's University, is a hidden sanctuary that has hosted weddings since September 1939, a few months before Eleanor Roosevelt's dedication. The exquisite internal stain glass windows complement the natural splendor that surrounds the Little Chapel. On saw-pierced and riveted brass lighting, and woodwork completed in beech, hand carved woodwork on the pews, the Little Chapel in-the-Woods' rich symbolism delicately conveys "Woman Ministering to Human Needs."
