As the capital of the United States, Washington, D.C. evokes historic grandeur at every turn. With epic architectural feats such as The White House, U.S. Capitol, and Library of Congress, you can expect one wow-worthy photo op after another in this dynamic city. While cherry blossom season is especially popular for the most picturesque wedding photos, autumn is just as beautiful with its colorful foliage.

D.C. plays host to politicians, dignitaries, and non-profit chairs — and as such, it boasts a diverse array of stunning event venues. For couples who dream of a traditional ballroom wedding, we recommend grand hotels like Waldorf Astoria Washington DC and Four Seasons Hotel Washington, DC. For those who want the luxury feel coupled with a historic presence, consider Smithsonian's National Museum of American History or Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center.

Of course, D.C. is also home to unique and trendy spots like The Schuyler, adjacent to the historic Hamilton Hotel. A full-ceiling state-of-the-art sky-hook rigging system and cutting-edge lighting technology allow for complete customization, so you can effortlessly capture your dream wedding aesthetic. We also recommend District Winery, D.C.’s first working winery for an eclectic yet elegant wedding reception.

It’s easy to find your ideal D.C. wedding venue with PartySlate’s curated venue directory. Use the filters to narrow your search by guest count and amenities, and then look for the designated “featured” tags for PartySlate’s top recommendations. If you see a venue that you like, make sure to click into their PartySlate profile to see real events hosted on-site. You can then reach out right from their profile or the PartySlate directory.

Great Marsh Estate's Manor House was built in the 1980s as a historical re-creation of a conventional Georgian manor house. After years of serving as a private property, the transfer to a wedding venue in 2018 seemed logical. While your guests chat on the first floor and the gentlemen play pool in our basement groom's suite, the Manor House 2nd floor rooms provide a wide and lovely backdrop for your morning hair and makeup as a bridal suite. Our famed Georgian Mansion is nestled in over 121 acres of lawn and forest, close to Warrenton and only an hour drive from Washington, DC, with restored period features and illustrious past and charm. Great Marsh Estate's Manor House is your very own unique country house for the day, with a luxurious bridal suite and a peaceful groom's lounge. The spiraling staircase, twelve-foot ceilings, stunning mirrors and lighting, and panoramic views of the courtyard Ceremony Site in the Bridal Suite were all designed with you and your guests in mind. The Reception Hall The joyous backdrop to your celebration is our Stables reception space, where your guests will enjoy dinner and reception. Heat/AC, onsite toilets, exquisite bistro lighting, and a delightful campfire area outside the covered patio have all been added to our Stables. The ideal venue for family and friends to celebrate your love! The Stables reception hall, which was erected in the 1800s, has a longer history. Its rustic architecture and wooden beams were kept during renovations in 2017, which included all of the modern comforts such as air conditioning/heating, restrooms, and a catering kitchen, as well as bistro lighting and a patio lounge space. The contrast between the magnificent Manor House and the more rustic Stables creates a unique and varied venue experience that your guests will enjoy! All of this, however, pales in comparison to the venue's natural beauty. It's a photographer's dream location, with its tranquil rolling hills, large green trees, tree-lined driveway, and onsite pond and bridge. We're excited to show you around!

INCORPORATION Mrs. Anne C. Dulany and Mr. H. Rozier Dulany, Jr., the owners of the Buchanan Hall property at the time, made the decision to transfer the land and building to a nonprofit organization that would continue to play a vital part in the life of the town in the early 1930s. Towards this end, they and others came together on May 25, 1933, to form a 501(c)3 charity organization known simply as "Buchanan Hall" in memory of General Buchanan's construction of the facility and his gift of its use to the community. According to the founding documents, the Buchanan Hall nonprofit corporation would own and operate the building as Upperville's community center, noting that it was established "to hold meetings of a civic, patriotic, social, religious, educational, and charitable nature." The Buchanan Hall nonprofit corporation was established "to hold meetings of a civic, patriotic, social, religious, educational, and charitable nature," according to the founding documents. The initial trustees named to the board were Mrs. Anne C. Dulany, president; Mr. H. Rozier Dulany, Jr., secretary; and Mr. A. Cook Reid, trustee, all of whom were appointed on that date. On June 9, 1933, the Dulanys kindly donated the Buchanan Hall property and building to the newly formed nonprofit organization, bringing their vision to fruition. Since then, Buchanan Hall has served as the focal point for social, cultural, and civic events in Upperville, and it is beloved by both the locals and visitors from all over the world who visit. 1942 Buchanan Hall was determined to be in need of repair in 1942 after an inspection of the building's structure. It was decided to form a new trustee committee, which included Mrs. Paul Mellon as Chairman, Lieut. Walter J. Williams as Vice Chairman, Rozier Dulany as secretary, and Mrs. Joseph G. Gibson as treasurer, with Mrs. Paul Mellon serving as Chairman. Mrs. William G. Fletcher and Mrs. Thomas Glascock were also on the committee, which met once a month. The renovation of the building proceeded as planned, with funds raised through private contributions solicited by the committee's members. Upon completion, an item titled "Upperville's Latest Community Project is Brought to a Close" ran in the Fauquier Times-Democrat on November 5, 1942, with the headline "Upperville's Latest Community Project is Brought to a Close." According to the report, "the building will be available for use by churches, humanitarian organizations, the Red Cross, and the Boy Scouts at no cost." For dances and private gatherings, there will be a little cost levied. Additionally, in the event that Washington is evacuated, the hall will be required for hospital or canteen operations."

    • Spaces for 25-45 Guests

A travel guide from Forbes Café du Parc, a highly recommended restaurant, is a quintessential French brasserie that serves classic French dishes with a modern twist in a relaxed atmosphere. In 1997, Pierre L'Enfant, a French-American engineer, opened Café du Parc as a French restaurant in the Willard InterContinental, which was inspired by the Beaux-Arts architecture of the Willard and the French-inspired design of Washington, D.C. The restaurant's mission was to bring a piece of France back to the Nation's Capital. It is located on Pennsylvania Avenue, across from Pershing Park, a national park that is home to the World War I Memorial, and has been described as being reminiscent of a Parisian-style sidewalk café. The restaurant, which pays homage to traditional French cuisine, provides diners with a variety of culinary options, ranging from coffee and pastries at its coffee shop, Le Café, to breakfast, lunch, and dinner served on the restaurant's outdoor terrace or in the main dining room. A large takeout menu of classic French dishes, cocktails, and desserts is available at Café du Parc for those who prefer to eat while on the go. In addition, every Friday and Saturday, beginning at 5:30 p.m., come out to the terrace and listen to jazz. This Washington, D.C. restaurant is located along Pennsylvania Avenue in the heart of the city, between the White House and the United States Capitol Building. Café du Parc is located next to the legendary Willard InterContinental, a landmark hotel with a 200-year history that is within walking distance of many of the city's most notable attractions, including the various monuments, memorials, and museums on the National Mall and the Washington Monument. Café du Parc's seasonal outside terrace, which is surrounded by the sights and sounds of the nation's capital, is widely regarded as one of the best al fresco dining options in the city and is extremely popular with both visitors and locals.
