  Located at Town Center in Virginia Beach, the Sandler Center for the Performing Arts opened in November 2007 following six years of planning by the Virginia Beach City Council, which set out to replace the aging 1,000-seat Pavilion Theatre with a larger cultural facility. The center serves as a home for regional and community performing arts organizations and hosts concerts, jazz performances, and theatrical productions throughout the year. Beyond its 1,308-seat main Performance Hall, the center offers several spaces for private events, meetings, and banquets. The Miller Studio Theatre is a 2,200-square-foot rehearsal hall with a sprung floor and ballet bars that converts for cocktail receptions, seated dinners, or theatre-style gatherings.   As a National Trust for Historic Preservation site, we believe that all Americans have a right to learn about their own history by visiting the places that surround us. This historic site is dedicated to filling in the gaps of our cultural heritage, particularly the stories of enslaved and freed Black communities, as well as the stories of their descendants. Take a look at our interpretation themes. All of our properties are on 126 historic acres in Alexandria, Virginia, and they include two historic properties and one working farm. It was built in 1805, and it was given to Nelly Custis and Lawrence Lewis as a gift by President George Washington. The site was used as a plantation, and the couple enslaved over 90 people while operating it. The Pope-Leighey House, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, is also located on the grounds, where visitors can explore and be inspired by the Usonian architecture and a vision for affordable, well-designed housing that Wright envisioned. We co-own the land with our partner, Arcadia Farm for Sustainable Agriculture, whose mission is to create a more equitable and sustainable local food system in the greater Los Angeles area. Our activities are spread out throughout the grounds and trails, and they are designed to promote learning as well as wellbeing as well as respite and enjoyment of the natural environment and its history. Immersive experiences, exhibitions, performances, and thought-provoking art are used to bring these stories and discussions to life. Across the grounds of Woodlawn and Pope-Leighey House, two historic homes situated on 120 acres of agricultural land farmed by our non-profit partner Arcadia, are intertwined tales of community transformation.   The Vinton War Memorial is a landmark event venue set on an 11.5-acre property in Vinton, Virginia, in the heart of the Blue Ridge. The two-story brick building was dedicated on August 20, 1948 as a tribute to World War II service members, originally housing the town's library, small meeting rooms, and the Dogwood Ballroom. Following updates in 2007, it reopened the next year as a dedicated event destination and remains owned and operated by the Town of Vinton. The venue offers four distinct spaces for gatherings of different sizes and styles. The Dogwood Ballroom, with its hardwood floors, custom chandeliers, mahogany accents, and grand staircase, hosts seated banquets for up to 200 guests or theater-style events for up to 300, making it well suited to weddings and large receptions.   Apple Ridge Farm is a 96-acre nonprofit retreat in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Copper Hill, Virginia, founded by Peter Lewis to serve underserved children and families of the Roanoke and New River Valley through summer camps and outdoor education — programs that have reached more than 80,000 kids over the farm's history.   The Inn at Wise is a restored 1910 colonial-revival landmark in the historic district of Wise, Virginia, steps from the University of Virginia's College at Wise. The property was built after the original Dotson Hotel was lost to fire, expanded under Herbert Thompson's 1925 renovation, and later brought back from decades of neglect through a restoration led by the Wise County Industrial Development Authority. Today the Inn offers a range of event spaces for weddings, meetings, and celebrations, from the grand Gladeville Ballroom, which accommodates up to 220 guests, to the more intimate Colonial Room, Sunporch, and Balcony Room.
