Greenbank Mills & Philips Farm is a 501(c)3 nonprofit historic site in Wilmington, Delaware, occupying a mill complex with roots stretching back to 1677. The current gristmill dates to the 1760s and carries a remarkable lineage: in 1793, inventor Oliver Evans installed an automated milling system here that earned U.S. Patent No. 3 — one of the earliest mechanical production breakthroughs in American history. Local tradition also holds that George Washington posted a guard at the mill during American troop movements along the Red Clay Creek following the Battle of Cooches Bridge. The property encompasses the historic gristmill and the Madison Factory — a stone textile building erected in 1810 and rebuilt after a 1969 fire — now operating as a museum and educational facility within the Greenbank Mill National Historic District. For private events, the Hall accommodates up to 80 guests and is available with no catering restrictions and a fully customizable setup. Blue Ball Barn is a historic two-story stone structure at Alapocas Run State Park in Wilmington, Delaware, available for private events, corporate meetings, and celebrations year-round. Originally constructed in 1914 by Alfred I. du Pont as a dairy barn to supply his nearby Nemours Estate, the property was acquired by the State of Delaware in 1999 and renovated beginning in 2004. It holds the distinction of being the first public building in Delaware to achieve LEED certification. The barn is organized around several distinct spaces: a large open banquet room set within the original hayloft, spacious reception and meeting rooms on the ground level, and a secluded outdoor courtyard. Together these areas accommodate up to 250 guests. Permanent galleries throughout the building showcase the Delaware Folk Art Collection, featuring more than 120 works by Delaware artists, giving the venue a cultural dimension that distinguishes it from conventional event spaces. The Delaware Center for Horticulture (DCH) is a nonprofit event venue and public garden headquartered in Wilmington's Trolley Square neighborhood. Founded in 1977 as the Wilmington Garden Center, DCH moved to its current home at 1810 N. Dupont Street in 1992, where it has served as a community hub for horticultural education and urban greening ever since. The campus offers four distinct rental spaces suited to a range of private and professional gatherings. The Garden Pavilion provides a serene outdoor setting surrounded by native plantings, while the spacious Courtyard — available with tent coverage — offers flexible open-air hosting. The Baldcypress Nature Center at Trap Pond State Park offers indoor and outdoor event spaces within Delaware's first state park, established in 1951. The nature center building, which opened in October 2010, is constructed with cypress shingles and wooden beams, and features soaring ceilings, exposed timber framing, and a Gallery and Multipurpose Room that together accommodate up to 75 guests. The Multipurpose Room — known as the Pond View room — is distinguished by its large windows facing the pond and surrounding woodland, with two adjoining outdoor patios extending the gathering space. For ceremonies, the nearby Bethesda Church provides a one-room historic building with stained wood accenting and seats up to 65 guests, available on its own or in conjunction with the nature center. The Playhouse on Rodney Square is a 1,230-seat Victorian theatre located in Wilmington, Delaware's historic DuPont Building, just two blocks north of The Grand Opera House on Market Street.
