For events, the cottage grounds accommodate up to 75 guests in an outdoor tropical garden setting with mature trees, plumeria, and bistro lighting overhead. The greatest American architect, Frank Lloyd Wright, created the King Kamehameha Golf Club. It was dubbed "the most breathtaking clubhouse in the nation today" by Golf Digest. The original design was created in 1949 as a house, and Marilyn Monroe and her husband Arthur Miller acquired it in 1957. The house never got built. The King Kamehameha Golf Club is now what was originally intended when Howard Hamamoto, Pundy Yokouchi, and Takeshi Sekiguchi evaluated the blueprints in 1988 and renovated the Waikapu Country Club (which closed in 1999). Many of the elements you notice, such the stained glass, carpet light fittings, and etching on the elevator doors and glass, are based on original Frank Lloyd Wright creations.
