Our structure features a lovely outside pavilion with a fireplace and courtyard, as well as an attractive old world interior with chandelier lighting. Rio Plaza is a private event venue on San Antonio's River Walk, occupying three floors of a stone-clad building at the corner of Commerce and Navarro streets. Since 2002, the venue has hosted more than 200 weddings and special events each year across six private rooms, each with its own character — from Grande Vista's domed ceiling and panoramic river views to Cielo Vista's vintage handcrafted bar and private terrace, the Spanish-influenced interiors of Calle Vista and Salon Azul, the mission-inspired Las Leyendas & Balcony, and the Penthouse's floor-to-ceiling windows and hand-painted accent walls. In the beginning, it was our grandfather's small 80-acre "place in the country," which he used to enjoy the outdoors on by hunting, fishing, and simply taking in the scenery. Although he did not cultivate vegetables or raise poultry here, he did have a horse for the grandkids to ride, several cows (mainly as pets), and a Brahma Bull named Baby. He referred to this place as his "farm" (his biggest pet of all). Our parents built the home as well as the movie theater, which is now known as The Ruby Chapel, in the early 1990s, and it served as their Texas residence for the subsequent 20 years.
