    The Venetian Pool is unlike any other swimming pool in the country. The pool was built from a coral rock quarry in 1923, and much of the original coral rock was used to border and emphasize the pool. It also has two big medieval lookout towers offering panoramic views of the city. The spring water from an underground aquifer is used to fill the 820,000 gallon pool. The pool is filled and emptied on a daily basis during the spring and summer seasons! The aquifer, of course, isn't the only thing that improves a visitor's experience. There are two waterfalls that provide a scenic backdrop as well as the cave-like grottos which provide a fun experience for swimmers. Monty Trainer: Monty, a native of Key West, wanted to bring a taste of his hometown to Coconut Grove. He built "Monty's Conch," a modest breakfast nook and petrol station, two years after graduating from the University of Florida. Monty eventually expanded his restaurant empire to include locations in Boca Raton, Orlando, Atlanta, and Key West. He sold his rights to "Monty's" but his legacy is still very much alive with our raw bar and the Coconut Grove Arts Festival which he founded and is now in it's 54th year.
