  The Basque Country is a mountainous region that spans the border between France and Spain and is home to a culture that dates back hundreds of years and a cuisine that has been passed down through generations. Even Patricia Wells referred to it as "one of the few locations in France that possesses spice" when she wrote about it. Piperade, which was opened in downtown San Francisco in 2002 by Chef Gerald Hirigoyen and his wife Cameron, is responsible for bringing these traditional flavors to the area. The proprietors of the establishment call the cuisine served there "West Coast Basque Cuisine," and they say it bridges the gap between French, Spanish, and Basque culinary traditions by emphasizing the use of fresh, locally sourced ingredients in each of those cuisines. The restaurant Piperade, which was given its name after the traditional Basque dish consisting of simmering peppers, tomatoes, and garlic and topped with slices of ham and an egg that had been poached, serves delectable dishes in an intimate setting that is ideal for date nights, business meetings, or gatherings with family and friends. The Event Lawn seats up to 150 outdoors amid perennial gardens and surrounding pine forest and is available April through November. The Grand Hall is a 1,400-square-foot indoor space accommodating up to 100 guests year-round, featuring eco-friendly radiant heating and a full-size commercial kitchen. The Studio Hall seats up to 25 in a light-filled 650-square-foot room that opens directly into the gardens. A pergola provides an additional outdoor ceremony structure. San Antonio Road, the museum's three-level, 8,200-square-foot main building was constructed entirely with private donations before ownership transferred to the City of Los Altos in 2002. The museum campus encompasses the main building, which houses rotating and permanent exhibitions, and the J. Gilbert Smith House — a restored 1905 farmhouse set across a landscaped courtyard. Gardens and grounds connect the historic structures and remain open to the public even when the buildings are closed. Huge trees, lush vegetation, and our Chinese Pistach Tree provide the ideal setting for saying "I do" in this roomy area. Wedding celebrations, cocktail hours, and dancing are all ideal in our Courtyard! 150 people can be seated in this cozy environment, and there is enough for 150+ people to dance and enjoy drinks. The ideal atmosphere to enjoy spending time with your visitors is created by our original fireplace and string lights hanging above our concrete pad. Our famous Pool House's original fireplace area is behind it. As guests swell near our pool, this area is perfect for cocktail hour and dancing for up to 300 people. The area will be lit up with string lights, and your guests will enjoy lounging by the fire while playing horseshoes and bocce ball that are provided. The first Yolo County Fair ever was held in the 1930s at Maples Stables, a barn. For wedding ceremonies, luncheons, rehearsal dinners, and even first-look pictures, these traditional green doors offer a charming backdrop!
