After closing in 1976, the theatre was saved from demolition and reopened in 1980 following a major restoration effort, with approximately four million dollars invested in ongoing preservation. Today it anchors Downtown Canton's Arts District and hosts more than 300 events annually for an average of 50,000 guests.
