The Amelita Mirolo Barn is a timber-frame event hall set within Upper Arlington's Sunny 95 Park, where hand-hewn oak beams from an 1838 structure create a striking contrast with a bright, modern interior. The original barn was built by Thomas Legg near Reed and Fishinger roads, relocated in 1928, and preserved through community advocacy during Sunny 95 Park's 2007 development. The Ohio Timber Framers Guild completed the hand-raising of the timber frame in 2010. The 3,700-square-foot main hall accommodates up to 150 guests for weddings, family reunions, business retreats, birthday parties, and civic gatherings. Tables, padded banquet chairs, and a full AV package — projection, LCD displays, wireless and lapel microphones, and Wi-Fi — are included with rental. A kitchen equipped with refrigeration, warming, and ice supports catering operations, and the venue maintains a list of permitted caterers. An outdoor trellis and patio overlook a pond and provide additional gathering space adjacent to the main hall.

Mooreland Mansion at Lakeland Community College
7800 Clocktower Dr, Kirtland, OH 44094, USA- Spaces for 200 Guests
Mooreland Mansion is a historic event center on the campus of Lakeland Community College in Kirtland, Ohio. Originally built as a summer estate for Cleveland financier Edward William Moore, the neo-classical mansion was designed by architect Arthur N. Oviatt and later expanded in 1906 by Milton Dyer. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the mansion underwent a $3 million renovation before reopening in 1998 as a venue for meetings, conferences, banquets, and special events. The mansion's first-floor rooms retain many original details, from the wood-paneled Foyer and its original grandfather clock to the President's Living Room, which still holds an original Steinway grand piano and brick fireplace. The Oviatt Room can be arranged as a banquet space, dance floor, classroom, or auditorium, while the Restoration Room features a bar salvaged from Moore's private railroad car. The South Verandah, a covered outdoor porch, accommodates seating, a dance floor, and cocktail-hour high-top tables overlooking the grounds. Upstairs, several rooms furnished with original Moore family pieces serve meetings and conferences. The estate's grounds include three distinct gardens - a Rose Garden with roughly 1,000 roses, a Green Garden built on a former tennis court, and a Formal Garden blending Victorian geometry with English cottage style - maintained by the Mooreland Restoration Garden Club and used as a backdrop for events and photography.
Henry's Barn

Henry's Barn at the North Star Preserve is one of Northeast Ohio's most extraordinary event venues — a place where genuine history, architectural character, and natural beauty converge to create an atmosphere unlike anything else in the region. Built in 1885 on the Johnson Estate in Oberlin, the barn carries the remarkable legacy of Henry R. Thomas, an African-American man who, after gaining his freedom from enslavement, devoted his life as caretaker to this very estate and barn. That legacy lives in every timber. When the structure could no longer remain on its original site, Lorain County Metro Parks undertook a meticulous, piece-by-piece relocation and reconstruction — preserving the original timber-frame construction, the distinctive mansard-style roof, and the authentic barn siding now beautifully repurposed as interior walls. The result is a space that wraps guests in genuine 19th-century craftsmanship while delivering every modern convenience. Henry's Barn accommodates up to 100 guests for weddings, private celebrations, and special events. A deck patio opens to a serene pond with an illuminated fountain — a stunning backdrop that transforms every outdoor moment into something truly memorable. Reserved exclusively for private events and special programming, the barn offers an intimacy and historic resonance that makes every gathering feel like a once-in-a-lifetime occasion.
Portage Country Club
240 N Portage Path, Akron, OH 44303, USA- Spaces for 300 Guests
Founded in 1894, Portage Country Club ranks among the top ten oldest clubs in America — an institution born during Akron's rubber industry boom that has operated continuously for more than a century. The Tudor-style clubhouse, designed by Chicago architect Howard Shaw and formally opened in 1906, has been painstakingly preserved through two rebuilds after separate fires, each time restoring rather than replacing the original character. Private events at Portage are hosted in the Directors Room and the Ballroom, whose majestic views set the stage for wedding receptions, anniversary celebrations, corporate dinners, and milestone gatherings. The club's private rooms collectively accommodate up to 500 guests. An Executive Chef and pastry team design custom menus for each event, and a dedicated Events Manager guides clients through planning and vendor coordination from first inquiry through event day. The surrounding property — an 18-hole William Langford–designed golf course, six Har-Tru tennis courts, swimming facilities, and both formal and casual dining — gives guests a full club experience as the backdrop for any occasion.
