Basignani Winery has been cultivating grapes and crafting wine in the rolling hills of Sparks, Maryland, since Bert and Lynne Basignani founded the winery in November 1986. The story begins in 1972, when Bert purchased 10 acres in Butler with a vision for a future vineyard, and in 1974 he and Lynne planted their first 60 vines across six varieties. Today the winery produces 6,500 gallons annually, drawing on a tradition of winemaking that traces to Bert's grandparents, who brought the craft with them from Italy. The centerpiece for private events is the heated Piazza Pavilion, an open-sided timber structure with retractable side curtains that accommodates up to 100 guests for seated celebrations. The grounds trace their origins to 1683, when the Maryland legislature established London Town as a colonial tobacco port. The William Brown House, built around 1760 as a tavern for ferry travelers, remains at the heart of the property today, lending a sense of history that is visible in every corner of the estate. The main event space is a 40 x 60 tent dressed with drapery and two statement chandeliers, accommodating up to 200 seated guests — expandable to 240 with an extension tent. For smaller gatherings from November through mid-April, the indoor Waterfront Pavilion seats up to 80 and accommodates around 125 standing. Schooner Liberté is a 77-foot, three-masted staysail schooner offering sailing excursions on Vineyard Sound from Falmouth Harbor, Cape Cod. Custom-built in 2001 and annually inspected by the U.S. Coast Guard, the vessel is certified to carry up to 49 passengers on morning, afternoon, and sunset sails throughout the summer season. Liberté's design draws from the Hout Bay 70 by naval architect Dudley Dix, adapted for passenger service with a three-masted staysail rig that allows for easier sail handling and greater flexibility under varying conditions. A full onboard bar and spacious deck round out the experience for guests. The schooner is available for private charter and accommodates a range of occasions — weddings, corporate outings, birthday parties, bachelorette celebrations, and family reunions. Private charters are fully customizable, departing Falmouth Harbor for sails that may reach Nobska Lighthouse, Vineyard Haven, or east past Falmouth Heights. Housed in a former Arlington County school building, the Museum of Contemporary Art Arlington (MoCA Arlington) has occupied its location since 1976. The building was constructed in 1910 to a design by architect Charles M. Robinson and served as a school before being adapted for cultural use; it is designated both an Arlington County Landmark and a listing on the National Register of Historic Places. A 2005 renovation restored the building's original Louis Comfort Tiffany Studio stained-glass windows, which remain a signature feature of the space today. Spanning 17,000 square feet, the museum houses nine exhibition galleries, twelve artist studios, and three classrooms. Its event spaces include the Tiffany Gallery, set beneath the restored stained-glass windows, along with several of the museum's rotating contemporary art galleries, together accommodating up to 150 guests for ceremonies, cocktail hours, and receptions. The Annapolis Maritime Museum & Park is a nonprofit cultural institution and event venue occupying two distinct waterfront campuses along Back Creek and the Chesapeake Bay in Annapolis, Maryland. Founded in 2000 by the Eastport Historical Society, the Museum Campus is housed in the historic McNasby Oyster Company building — the last oyster-packing plant in Annapolis — and offers 2,500 square feet of reception space plus an 1,100-square-foot deck with three piers and 180-degree views of the Bay and Back Creek. The Park Campus at 7300 Edgewood Road spans 12 acres of waterfront land, anchored by a 2,600-square-foot pavilion with fireplace, a 250-foot dock, and sweeping views of the same waterway. Together the two campuses accommodate up to 150 guests each and suit weddings, corporate gatherings, and private celebrations of all kinds. The Museum Campus also offers the Barge House, a recently renovated 600-square-foot meeting room for intimate groups of up to 12. For something truly one-of-a-kind, the historic skipjack Wilma Lee — built in 1940 and Maryland's official state boat — is available for private two-hour charters on the Bay for up to 35 guests, April through October.
