Joe King, who had recently left a career in the film industry, established Aragon Ranch approximately half a century ago. Joe was a popular choice for roles as a commentator in movies, commercials, and news broadcasts; he had even been nominated for an Academy Award. His nickname was "The Voice." After many years of keeping a busy schedule and commuting from New York to Miami, he and his wife Doris were looking for a peaceful getaway retreat they could get away to. Because Joe had a passion for horses, he established the Aragon Ranch, where Doris later began cultivating beautiful gardens for the family to enjoy. She planted dozens upon dozens of camellias and azaleas in the garden. In point of fact, she has all of her grandchildren represented by their very own individual camellia bushes. Their son Malcolm took over the garden design and began working alongside Doris to sell tropical plants all over the country after taking over the business from his parents. This resulted in the development of one-of-a-kind landscape design areas, which in turn continued to contribute to the beauty of the gardens. DeBary Country Club is a semi-private golf and event club set on an 18-hole championship course in DeBary, Florida, between Orlando and Daytona Beach. Designed by Lloyd Clifton and rated four stars by Golf Digest, the course has served as a U.S. Open Qualifying site and is certified by the National Audubon Society as a natural habitat. DeBary Hall Historic Site is a 19th-century hunting estate perched on ten acres overlooking the St. Johns River in DeBary, Florida. Built in 1871 by European wine merchant Frederick deBary, the 8,000-square-foot main lodge is recognized as the oldest intact building in southwest Volusia County and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The estate once played host to Presidents Grant and Cleveland, as well as the Astor, Gould, and Vanderbilt families, lending the grounds a distinctive sense of history and grandeur.
