Long before our youngest daughter was old enough to marry, she tore a picture of a barn reception out of a magazine and told us, "this is exactly what I envision my wedding will look like!" Atlantic Center for the Arts is a non-profit multidisciplinary artist residency and cultural venue set on 69 acres at the edge of Turnbull Bay in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. Founded in 1977 by sculptor and environmentalist Doris Leeper, the campus has grown into a gathering place for artists, organizations, and community groups drawn to its combination of purpose-built creative spaces and natural surroundings. The main campus at 1414 Art Center Avenue offers a range of rentable facilities suited to workshops, retreats, seminars, performances, weddings, parties, and corporate events. Spaces include the Joan James Harris Theater — a 2,500-square-foot configurable black box with a professional lighting grid — the 2,609-square-foot Helene B. Our married couples are treated like people, not numbers, at The Foxtail Estate. We don't believe in cramming the most important day of your life into a span of just a few hours and then hurrying you out the door so that we may accommodate more brides and grooms. You will have unrestricted access to the grounds and will be able to hire all of the guest rooms from Friday through Sunday as part of our wedding weekend package. The Mulberry expertly fuses southern beauty with rustic characteristics. Trees that fell on the property during Hurricane Matthew were used to make the two 23-foot live edge wood bars. The large rustic barn doors were constructed in the 1850s in Indiana using genuine wood from a former apple orchard barn. On the site, there is also a lovely farmhouse that formerly belonged to a thriving farm. The home has been upgraded with modern furniture and appliances while maintaining a slight French country aesthetic.
