The Union Station Nashville Yards occupies a former L&N Railroad terminal at 1001 Broadway, built in 1900 in a heavy-stone Richardsonian-Romanesque style complete with a clock tower and a statue of Mercy, the Roman deity of merchants and travelers. The terminal closed in 1979, and since 1986 the building has operated as a luxury boutique hotel and special event destination, now listed on the National Register of Historic Places and designated a Historic Hotel of America. The centerpiece is the Grand Lobby, topped by a 65-foot barrel-vaulted ceiling with gold-leaf medallions and original luminous prism stained glass, and named one of the "Best Hotel Lobbies in the World" by Condé Nast Traveler. Marble floors, oak-accented woodwork, three limestone fireplaces, and gold-accented bas-relief angel figurines round out the space, which can host up to 300 guests for a reception. Adventure Science Center is a not-for-profit science and technology center perched atop a hill just minutes from downtown Nashville, with panoramic skyline views from several of its spaces. Best known for its 175-plus hands-on exhibits and the state-of-the-art Sudekum Planetarium, the center opens its 56,000 square feet of exhibit halls for private events after hours and on the days it's closed to the public. Event spaces range from the Jack Wood Hall, which seats up to 136 for a banquet with downtown views and built-in AV, to the West Galleries and the Wonders of the Universe hall, a second-floor space with an open layout, a built-in amphitheater, and NASA exhibits. The Sudekum Planetarium's 63-foot domed theater seats 160 and can host private planetarium or laser shows, while smaller classrooms and the Innovation Incubator suit meetings and breakout sessions. Wedding parties are drawn to the setting's range of backdrops, from the shaded Backyard beneath large magnolia and maple trees to the tin-roof White Barn favored for elopements and small ceremonies. For ceremonies, the Historic Home's brick aisle-way and porch serve as a naturally decorated altar for larger gatherings, while the Creekside location — with built-in benches overlooking Stewart's Creek — suits intimate weddings of 50 guests or fewer. The property is built around an 1899 farmhouse, renovated beginning in 1996 using timber and stone from the land along with reclaimed antique lumber and materials. The bed and breakfast offers three private guest rooms, each with its own bathroom, plus a separate two-bedroom, two-bathroom vacation cabin built in 2017. A hot breakfast with juices, breads, and seasonal fruit is included with a stay, and guests can explore the property's hiking trails or nearby Caney Fork River, Center Hill Lake, and Cordell Hull Lake.
