Outdoors, the Amphitheater seats up to 100 guests amid wooded surroundings, three pavilions accommodate smaller gatherings of 30 to 100 with picnic tables and grills, and the Chestnut Ridge Overlook offers sweeping views of the Highlands for a more intimate setting. Set within Natural Tunnel State Park in Duffield, Virginia, The Cove Ridge Center overlooks Stock Creek Gorge near the northern portal of the Natural Tunnel, an 850-foot limestone passage that William Jennings Bryan once called the "Eighth Wonder of the World." The climate-controlled center houses a great room with a stone fireplace, an auditorium accommodating up to 100 guests, a classroom, and a resource library, along with a catering kitchen and a 3,500-square-foot deck suited to outdoor dining and gatherings. High-speed internet and audiovisual equipment are included with rental, making the auditorium and library well suited to retreats and workshops as well as receptions. Beyond the main center, the 909-acre park offers additional settings for ceremonies and receptions, including an outdoor amphitheater seating up to 200 guests, a lawn and gazebo at Fincastle Fields, and a deck at the mouth of the Natural Tunnel reached by chairlift. Two adjoining six-bedroom dormitories can house up to 48 overnight guests, and the park also offers cabins, yurts, and a lodge nearby. Outside caterers are welcome with the proper permits, and alcohol is permitted with a banquet license.

The site preserves a pioneer mountain plantation from the early 1800s, featuring seven historic and reconstructed buildings — including a two-story log cabin homestead and an original 1790s slave dwelling — alongside a visitor center with interactive exhibits that interpret daily life in the Blue Ridge Mountains during that era. For private events, the site offers an outdoor picnic shelter and adjacent 1/6-acre field, set against panoramic views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The outdoor rental area accommodates up to 150 guests and is available during normal operating hours as well as outside those hours when staffing allows. Admission to the site is free, and the venue is open Tuesday through Saturday.
