Employees Only is New York City’s inimitable speakeasy located in the heart of the West Village. The restaurant and bar was opened by five industry friends in 2004. It is driven by an innate inclination for hospitality and a core principle that one can enjoy flawlessly executed cocktails and delicious, elevated food in a beautiful space. Twelve years later, this same vision remains intact. In addition to a world class bar program whose acceptance is coveted by aspiring bartenders around the globe, Employees Only has gained a voracious and loyal following for the mysterious, convivial and hospitable ambiance—as well as the esteemed New American fare, distinguished by subtle Eastern European touches that reflect executive chef Julia Jaksic’s Croatian heritage. The bar has created industry classics out of its pioneering drink list, including their famed twist on the Manhattan, the seasonally adapted Ginger Smash, the Amelia, and various others. Meanwhile, the kitchen continues to serve dedicated favorites like its Hand Cut Steak Tartare, Bone Marrow Poppers, Skate Paprikás and satisfying late night foods. The restaurant reflects an old world vibe through its art deco accents like overhead luggage racks and backlit paintings and is curiously tucked behind a fortune teller’s lair. Upon arrival past this mysterious foyer, guests revel around a sensual curving bar and throughout an alluring back dining room. Employees Only has been honored with Spirited Awards for “Best American Bar Team,” “World’s Best Cocktail Bar” and “World’s Best Drinks Selection” by Tales of the Cocktail, as well as the #4 spot on Drinks International’s “World’s 50 Best Bars” list in 2015. Kelli Connell's twenty-year study with one model is an introspective examination of sexuality and gender roles in intimate relationships that form self-identity. The project investigates identity polarities such as the masculine and feminine psyche, the irrational and rational self, the outward and interior self, and the motivated and resigned self. Body language and clothes define the dualities of the person by mixing several photographic negatives of the same model in each image. The significance of these photos rests in their portrayal of internal conflicts as an outward object: a photograph. The spectator is presented with "constructed realities" through these pictures. Rentals and Photoshoots Holding your event at the Alice Austen House gardens is an opportunity to participate in New York City history. With magnificent views of lower Manhattan and Brooklyn, the historic venue offers outdoor leases for wedding ceremonies and shooting opportunities. The Alice Austen House offers a unique background for your wedding ceremony or photo/film shoot, with lovely period gardens, a landmarked Victorian Cottage, and a wide waterfront vista of the New York harbor. Only wedding ceremonies, business retreats, and film and photoshoots are now available for rent, and this historic New York location is the ideal setting for these events. Wedding ceremony rental fees are $750, which includes a site visit and consultation with our rentals experts, as well as administrative costs. Space limitations and gathering size guidelines limit the capacity of outdoor ceremonies and interior business retreats. Photo permits are required for any video or photoshoots on the ground, and cost $75 for up to two hours.

Dinner can also be served outside under the grape vines, with separate reception and meeting facilities indoors, or on a little patio off to the side.
