The Villa at Springwood is an outdoor wedding and event venue set on nine acres of Springwood's rolling Penn Hills property in Verona, Pennsylvania, just outside Pittsburgh. The grounds center on two waterfalls — including a 55-foot drop over a natural stone quarry — along with a covered bridge, three ponds, a stone-lined stream, and towering evergreen and maple trees. Ceremonies are typically held at the base of the Lower Falls or at the Dome, an open-air site framed by a wrought-iron dome near the Upper Falls. From May through October, a 30' x 40' tent covers a side-yard patio connecting the pool area to the upper waterfall site, serving as both a rain plan and a setting for outdoor receptions, dinners, and dancing. South Hills Country Club has been a fixture of the Pittsburgh area since 1920, when a group of local businessmen founded the club on 78 acres at the intersection of Route 51 and Brownsville Road. The 18-hole championship golf course dates to that same year and has been continuously refined since, including a 2020 renovation by architect Ron Forse. Today the club offers event space for gatherings ranging from a business meeting for ten to a full wedding reception for two hundred. The clubhouse's Main Floor underwent extensive renovation in 2012, giving the entrance a more inviting, modern feel while preserving its character. The Ballroom was updated with modern technology while retaining its tasteful elegance, the Lounge was transformed into a warm, intimate space centered on a stone fireplace, and the Dining Room's rich colors and draperies lend a refined style to the space. Betsy's Barn sits on Cheeseman Farm in Portersville, a small rural town bordering McConnell's Mill State Park, and has hosted weddings ranging from micro to large-scale celebrations for over 25 years. The farm is a sixth-generation family-owned business that began as a general livestock operation in 1980; Betsy's Barn was built in 1999 by a small group of local Amish workers and has since grown from its original 40' x 80' footprint into a roughly 7,000-square-foot venue. The barn combines rustic character with practical event space: a large, fully covered wrap-around porch, a bar area, an open-air lounge, a glass-enclosed deck, and a 20' x 40' hardwood dance floor, all able to accommodate up to 300 guests. It is unheated and uncooled but relies on strong cross ventilation and fans, which is why bookings run May through August.
