Founded in 1927, Holston Hills Country Club is a historic private club set on 180 acres of rolling terrain along the Holston River, home to one of the most authentic Donald Ross golf course designs in the country. Chickasaw State Park spans 1,435 acres of pine-hardwood forest in West Tennessee, built during the 1930s as one of the state's original New Deal-era parks. The Civilian Conservation Corps and Works Progress Administration developed the land, and the park takes its name from the Chickasaw Nation that once inhabited the region. Two lakes, Lake Placid and Lake LaJoie, anchor the park's recreation areas, and thirteen historic WPA cabins near Lake Placid remain in use today. For events, the park's centerpiece is the Sagamore Lodge, a stone-and-brick WPA-era building with two stone fireplaces and 1,446 square feet of space that seats up to 100 guests for weddings, family reunions, and meetings. Groups may bring in their own food, and the lodge is available year-round with central heat and air. The Group Lodge accommodates up to 36 people overnight in bunk-bed quarters with a kitchen and dining area that doubles as a meeting space, suited to retreats and organized outings.
