The Clifton sits on 100 acres of Virginia countryside on the outskirts of Charlottesville, with views across the estate to the Blue Ridge Mountains and Jefferson's Monticello. The property's oldest building was constructed in 1799 as a colonial-style home for Thomas Jefferson's daughter Martha and her husband, Thomas Mann Randolph; the estate took the name "Clifton" from the Wyatt family later in the 19th century. In 2018, the current owners worked with the Blackberry Farm Design team to reimagine the inn's interiors, pairing historic character with a contemporary sensibility across the property's five late 18th- and early 19th-century buildings. Today The Clifton operates as a 20-room boutique hotel with a restaurant, bar and lounge, and wine cellar, along with an infinity pool and hot tub, a private lake, walking trails, a croquet lawn, and sprawling gardens including a chef's garden. We placed Ultraviolet lights in our HVAC systems in 2020, which ensures that the air flowing from our system is free of viruses and molds and filters the air in the room continually. In addition, unlike most barns, we have enormous windows that embrace the natural light that streams in via ceiling cupolas and windows from the loft, billowing through the room to the French glass doors leading to our covered verandas. The Valentine is a history museum in downtown Richmond, Virginia, founded in 1898 from the estate of Mann S. Valentine II, whose fortune came from Valentine's Meat Juice. His collection, along with the historic Wickham House, became the foundation for a museum now dedicated to collecting, preserving, and interpreting Richmond's history. A beautiful piece of the Blue Ridge foothills, discovered by J. Willard Marriott Sr. in 1951, reminded him of his boyhood days on his family's farm in Utah, and became the inspiration for the creation of Marriott International. Following his purchase of the property, he began meticulously restoring the primary historic buildings and their surrounding grounds, and he continued to purchase contiguous parcels of land, including Fiery Run Ranch, resulting in the creation of the 4200+/- acre Marriott Ranch. With a modest herd of registered Hereford cattle, a large flock of black-faced sheep, and the breeding of quarter horses, J. Willard was able to bring the farm, which had been known as "Fairfield," back to life over the next few years. Affectionate horseback rider and outdoorsman, J. Willard would spend as much time as he could on his Fauquier County property, noting in his diary, "A beautiful place, hard to leave..." The historic James Marshall Manor House (circa 1814), which serves as the focal point of the Inn at Fairfield Farm, is located in the heart of the 4,200-acre Marriott Ranch and is the centerpiece of the Inn at Fairfield Farm. The property hosts one wedding per weekend, giving couples exclusive use of the grounds for a full estate weekend that includes two nights of overnight lodging for up to 14 guests. The estate's spaces span both outdoor and indoor settings. The Lake View Ceremony site sends guests down 225-year-old carriage steps toward Rixey Lake, with the Blue Ridge Mountains rising behind the seating. The Terrace, a clear-span tent framed by mountain views, carries cocktail hour and dancing into the evening under string lights, while The Ballroom offers a climate-controlled indoor reception space lit by twenty crystal chandeliers and framed by French doors on three sides. The Shawnee Farms Estate wedding location is located in the center of Luray, Virginia. With its exquisite exterior, this ancient mansion embodies the charm and refinement of old Virginia. Couples will have the grandeur of nature at their fingertips with 150 acres of lush grass and spectacular views of National Park mountains. Shawnee Farms Estate was built as a huge family mansion in the nineteenth century. The guys had to go off to fight a war during its development. The woman who stayed behind finished the house in 1863. For years, the house was a lovely place where people made memories. Many historic antiquities from the Shawnee tribe, as well as hidden items from the conflict, can be found on the land. The mansion was renovated in 2018 to reclaim its original glory from when it was built. It retains its historic charm while still providing modern conveniences for maximum comfort. A completely equipped kitchen, washrooms, and spacious dining areas are now available in the house. Couples can hold their wedding reception in both indoor and outdoor locations. The farm hosts up to 150 guests for weekend rentals, with a wooden arbor for ceremonies and open fields for receptions that suit anything from an elegant wedding to a southern barbecue. Old Town Hall is a stately Colonial Revival building at the heart of the nationally recognized City of Fairfax Historic District. Built in 1900 by Joseph E. Willard — later lieutenant governor of Virginia and U.S. ambassador to Spain — the hall was presented to the Town of Fairfax in 1902 and quickly became the center of Fairfax social life. Its neo-classical design combines Tuscan order columns with Federal-style details, including a fanlight window over the front doors and round-headed gabled dormers. The venue offers two rentable levels: a Main Floor accommodating up to 150 guests and an Upper Level for up to 120, suited to weddings, private parties, and meetings.
