    Kaimea Estate

    Hawaii, USA

Working with the Kaimea Estates Ohana for our wedding can only be described as a blessing. There is no denying the venue's beauty. We had never even considered having the dream of getting married and holding the reception in a lychee orchard. The house was stunning and offered the ideal amount of nature while still having contemporary facilities that made our visitors feel at home. Everyone left the wedding wishing it had gone on longer, and the sunset was the ideal way to say goodbye to our guests. Having said that, I still believe that I have not even begun to express how amazing it was to work with these lovely folks. For our ceremony and celebration, Kaimea Estates Ohana was able to provide lovely tables and chairs that complemented our rustic style. When we wanted to talk about the venue, they were quick to answer. They were really receptive and communicative. They made it possible for us as a couple to more easily organize the ceremony and reception by allowing us to come to the property multiple times to make plans. The personnel on the wedding day was incredibly friendly and helpful. They moved around, keeping an eye on our visitors and ensuring that everyone had what they needed and was as comfortable as possible. We were about to cut the cake off of the bride and groom table at our reception since we didn't have a cake table when one of the staff members hurried home to fetch a table so we could cut the cake (not walk, run). Everyone took their jobs seriously, and the whole mood of the event was enhanced by their radiant, loving attitudes. We are so grateful to this family for making our day full with nothing but love and aloha.

The Kawika Room — the original dining hall of the Wailuku Female Seminary and the last building constructed for the seminary — serves as the venue's dedicated event and exhibition space. Capitol Modern — the Hawaiʻi State Art Museum — occupies the second floor of the historic No. 1 Capitol District Building in downtown Honolulu, steps from ʻIolani Palace. The 1928 Spanish-Mission structure was designed by Walker Emory, Marshall Webb, and Lincoln Rogers, and features cast stone detailing, iron grillwork, ornamental light fixtures, and original Italian tile work inspired by Florence's Davanzati Palace. The building earned a place on the National Register of Historic Properties in 1978 before becoming home to the museum in 2002; it was rebranded as Capitol Modern in 2023. The museum presents the largest collection of works by Hawaiian artists and is free and open to the public. As the venue that the State Foundation on Culture and the Arts describes as "a small gallery with a big responsibility," Capitol Modern positions art as a civic resource — the people's museum. For private events, Capitol Modern offers several distinct rental spaces: an open-air Second Floor Courtyard, a sweeping Front Lawn shaded by monkeypod canopies and coconut trees, and a ground-floor Sculpture Garden that has been transformed into an urban oasis.
