The Grand Rapids Public Museum, founded in 1854, is one of Michigan's oldest cultural institutions and the first accredited museum in the United States. Westcroft Gardens & Farm is Michigan oldest family-owned farm, established July 6, 1776, and now in its eighth generation of ownership by the Macomb family. Located on Grosse Ile along the Detroit River, the property has evolved from a working agricultural operation into a botanical estate featuring four acres of Heritage Gardens, a cherry orchard, lavender plantings, and a native pollinator garden. The farm primary event space is the Azalea House, a converted greenhouse suited for intimate weddings, wedding showers, baby showers, and anniversary celebrations, hosting up to 100 guests. The venue provides tables, chairs, a portable dance floor, and a dedicated wedding suite with a changing area. The Heritage Gardens offer a scenic outdoor setting for ceremonies. Historic Fort Wayne occupies a stretch of Detroit's riverfront with roots that predate the fort itself. The land hosted the signing of the Treaty of Springwells at the close of the War of 1812, and it holds deep significance to Native American cultures of the region. The star fort was constructed in 1845, and the federal government transferred the entire property to the City of Detroit in 1976; it is now managed by the city's Parks and Recreation Division as an open riverfront heritage site. Several distinct spaces across the grounds accommodate events of different scales and character. The Old Barracks — the oldest surviving structure on site — is a limestone building whose five ground-floor mess halls suit meetings and indoor gatherings. The 15-acre Parade Ground along the river is designed for large outdoor events including festivals and sporting occasions, with restroom facilities available in the adjacent building. Jefferson Field and the Star Fort, both dating to 1842, provide a dramatic open-air setting for smaller outdoor events.
