Lovely Day is an elegant and industrial large-capacity venue in the Longfellow Neighborhood of Oakland (near MacArthur BART). As a former catering company and restaurant, we have our own expertly-staffed industrial kitchens on site, capable of serving up to 10,000 meals per day at full capacity. We hold an ABC Type 47 liquor license, and are pleased to serve a full bar of cocktails, wine, beer, and nonalcoholic mocktails. Amplified music is allowed late at our venue. — We wanted a place where you could dance with your best friend to that one song from college. A place where you could light sparklers while shooting off confetti cannons. A charming space to spend time with people, have some great food and tasty cocktails. Oakland Zoo is a wildlife conservation destination and event venue situated in the scenic hills of Oakland, California, at the edge of Knowland Park. Founded in 1922 by naturalist Henry A. Snow as The Snow Museum, the institution has grown into a nationally accredited zoological park housing over 850 native and exotic animals across habitats that include an African Savanna, Tropical Rain Forest, and the California Trail. The Conservation Society of California, which operates the zoo, earned recognition as a Best Event Space by Oakland Magazine in 2025. The Melody is a historic church repurposed as a ready-to-use event venue suitable for receptions, weddings, meetings, conferences, performances, and gatherings. The venue features in-house audio and state-of-the-art lighting to instantly adapt the space to suit your event's theme. Our venue can accommodate 350 people standing, 150 people seated for meals, and 200 people in a theatre-style layout. We can provide chairs for up to 180 people. Additional furniture such as cocktail tables and rounds can be arranged for your event for a rental fee. Originally completed in 1880 then destroyed by the 1906 earthquake and fire. A reconstructed Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in the Mission Revival style was consecrated on April 14, 1912. The interior is decorated with frescos in Renaissance and Baroque style by Luigi Brusatori, an Italian master painter, which was completed in 1916. The Church also contains the largest unaltered 19th-century mechanical pipe organ in California. Declared a historic landmark, The Melody retains all of its original beauty while now hosting events ranging from large-scale corporate meetings and conferences, trade shows, product launches, auctions, screenings, performances, weddings, and private parties.
