Housed in a former school building with wings dating to 1927, 1948, and 1961, the Centre pairs its history with updated event spaces. Two large rooms anchor the venue for weddings, receptions, and other large gatherings. The Lester Banquet Hall, set in the original 1927 wing, keeps its plaster walls, hardwood floors, and painted wood ceiling alongside a stage with professional sound and lighting, and opens onto the Shackelford Courtyard, a garden space with roses and hydrangeas suited to outdoor ceremonies. Alumni Hall, added in 1964, offers a stage, an entry courtyard, and a kitchenette, and hosts everything from weddings and reunions to the Centre's monthly Music Night. Smaller rooms, including individual classrooms and the George Burton Conference Room, accommodate meetings, classes, showers, and family celebrations, while the Virginia Rodgers Kitchen, a Health Department-certified commercial kitchen, is available to caterers and food entrepreneurs. All rental spaces are handicapped accessible, include Wi-Fi and sound if requested, and are lit by large windows throughout.

  Great Meadow is a 374-acre expanse of preserved open land in The Plains, Virginia, in the heart of the state's Horse and Hunt Country and about 30 minutes from Washington, D.C. Founded in 1983 by journalist and conservationist Arthur "Nick" Arundel, the property was transformed from an abandoned farm into permanent green space and placed under a conservation easement with the backing of 100 Founding Life Members. Today the Great Meadow Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, operates the grounds as an outdoor events center, hosting equestrian competitions, festivals, community gatherings, and weddings across its rolling hills and open meadows. Couples can choose separate on-site locations for ceremony and reception and bring in their own vendors, with tented receptions set beneath open sky. Because the Foundation is a nonprofit, rental fees support its ongoing work preserving open space and advancing equestrian sport, and event proceeds may qualify as a tax deduction for renters.
