Devin and Sarah Noel are young entrepreneurs from Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, and Lafayette, Louisiana, respectively. They are a married couple with three sons, all boys. They met in 2016 while both were employed full-time by AT&T. Sarah began decorating small parties for family and friends when she first started out, with ambitions to one day work as an event planner. Devin supported her ideas while also searching for his own life's meaning and calling. He hopes to make a positive contribution to the community. As time went on and their family and duties increased, their ambition began to wane and it became simply impossible to achieve. After their wedding in February 2020, she felt that now was the time for her to give it another shot. As a result of Covid-19, the entire world was forced to shut down the following month. Their ambition had been shattered yet another time. They both continued to work for AT&T, and subsequently concluded that we needed a location where people could communicate in a way that had an impact on society. The Alexander Room was designed to be a contender among Metairie's event spaces, and that was the goal from the outset of construction. Cypress Grove Wedding Venue is a special place for us, and we're thrilled to share it with you! My name is Ted, and the name of my wife's is Joy. We are young empty nesters who have returned to our hometown and purchased this property in 2016 after having lived away for many years. We have two children and two grandchildren. We live on the property next to the venue and enjoy being on site because it allows us to meet so many beautiful couples as they go through the process of arranging their special wedding weekend. We have a dog and a cat, and we enjoy spending time with them. We have two daughters who are both married and have recently welcomed three adorable boys into the family, making us the proud grandparents of three little boys! Last but not least, don't forget about our newest member of the Cypress Grove family, our adorable Labradoodle Jolie! The venue is a historic general store that was built in 1886 and relocated to its current location in the 1990s. As a general shop, it was well-known for being one of the last locations that Bonnie and Clyde attempted to rob in 1934, when it was still in operation. The store has been transformed into a celebration venue, complete with a lovely verdant open field and a slab for the wedding ceremony. Moreover, in the event that it rains, this historic wedding venue has a one-of-a-kind backup plan. Le Musée, the Greek Revival residence at 2336 Esplanade Avenue, and its vicinity, centered in the area known as upper Treme, were originally part of the plantation of Domingo Fleitas. Fleitas, a Spanish colonial who had fought with Galvez in the American Revolution, had grandchildren born free people of color. This stretch of Esplanade Avenue, mid-way between the Mississippi River and Bayou St. John, was not developed until the 1850s when Benjamin Rodriguez, a Jewish speculator who also owned the Esplanade omnibus, began acquiring lots in the area. Rodriguez first built his home at 2306 Esplanade, where the Musson family later lived for a period of time and their cousin Edgar Degas, the acclaimed French artist, visited. In 1859, Rodriguez contracted with Joseph Jouet, the same builder who constructed the famed French Hospital, to build the house at 2336. Though this residence was never owned by persons of color until its present ones, because of their dominance in the building trades, it can be assumed that they participated in the construction. Esplanade Avenue has always been noted for its gracious homes and abundant greenery.
