The property takes its name from George William Curtis — editor of Harper's Weekly and a prominent 19th-century lecturer and essayist — who summered there with his wife and established the Ashfield Dinners, an annual community gathering that became a New England institution. Today, Gloriosa & Co. operates the Curtis House as an exclusive-use event venue.
