Rippon Lodge is a Prince William County historic site built circa 1747 for Richard Blackburn, making it one of the oldest surviving homes in the county. Set on 43 acres above the Potomac River, the property includes formal gardens, walking trails, and the Blackburn and Atkinson family cemetery, with a history that spans colonial tobacco production, Revolutionary War-era politics, and a family connection to George Washington's nephew by marriage. The home was updated in a Colonial Revival style beginning in 1923 and remained with descendants of its original builder until Prince William County acquired it in 2000. For events, Rippon Lodge offers grounds rental with vast lawns and outdoor gardens overlooking the Potomac River, suited to weddings and receptions of up to 150 to 200 guests under large reception tents. When you get married at the Morrison-Clark Hotel, which is conveniently located in the heart of Washington, DC, you can take advantage of its rich history, great gastronomy, and impeccable service standards to create the wedding of your dreams. The Morrison-Clark opened its doors in 1987 following a restoration effort overseen by William Adair (who was also in charge of the White House's repairs) of two Victorian town houses erected in 1864 by the Morrison and Clark families and held by the Morrison and Clark families. The Soldiers, Sailors, and Marine Club was established in 1930 by the Women's Army and Navy League, who purchased the town homes and converted them into a military housing facility for military personnel passing through the nation's capital. Although the Club was known for hosting silver teas and Sunday coffee, it was also a popular gathering place for high society women such as First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt, First Lady Admiral Dewey, and First Lady Calvin Coolidge, among others. In 2013, the hotel launched an extension project to integrate the adjoining Parsonage and Chinese Community Church into its premises, as well as an 18th Century Carriage House, thus enriching the rich heritage present inside our walls. The garden traces its origins to the 1950s, when Helen McGill began planting rose bushes along the fence line of the Avant Fuel and Ice Company her husband Henry had purchased. By the time the garden opened to the public on Mother's Day 1967, it had grown to include more than 500 rose bushes across two acres. Today the property is a City of Charlotte municipal park, and Rosie's Coffee & Wine — operating from the on-site brick building since 2019 — manages event bookings and offers a café and wine bar experience within the garden setting. The venue hosts intimate weddings and private events for up to 100 guests on Saturdays from late April through early November. Stokely Event Center occupies a historic warehouse in Tulsa that once served as the manufacturing site for hand-painted billboards, built by Bill and Sarah Stokely after they founded Stokely Outdoor Advertising in 1978 and acquired the building in 1984. When the family sold the advertising business to Lamar as the industry moved to digital signage, they repurposed the warehouse rather than let it sit empty, opening it as an event venue in 2007 filled with acquired neon and petroleum signs. Sarah Stokely has led the venue since 2018, continuing a family operation now spanning decades. The space is decorated with more than 300 nostalgic Tulsa signs, vintage Route 66 memorabilia, and old oil and gas advertising, giving it a picture-ready, retro character that requires little additional decor. It comfortably seats 160 guests buffet-style and holds up to 200 at full capacity, with parking for 150 vehicles, making it suited to weddings, corporate events, and celebrations of life alike. Rentals come with Stokely-trained hosts who assist from setup through cleanup, a sound system with dance lighting, a projector and drop-down screen, and a Pepsi fountain with eight flavors.
