In 1914, an Indian grave was discovered on the Hewlett estate of John N. Auerbach. Among the findings were skeletal remains, arrow and spear heads, and a large quantity of copper beads known by the Indians as“sewan”. Auerbach anglicized the name for the beads to Seawane, chose it for his estate, and then it was used for the founding of The Seawane Club in 1927. The Seawane Club is now the top indoor and outdoor luxury venue on Long Island's South Shore. Their vast clubhouse features a variety of rooms and layout possibilities, including the Living Room, which features an elegant bar and numerous fireplaces, the Grand Ballroom, which can hold banquets of more than 500 people, and an award-winning 18-hole golf course. Their banquets staff has years of experience and will help you with every aspect of the event planning process. The Seawane Club offers a comprehensive food and beverage program with personalized menus to fit visitors' interests and needs. Exquisite displays, engaging stations, delectable plated dinners, buffets, and a bar program that bring your event to life are all things they take delight in. Their vast list of vendors include state-of-the-art flower designers, stunning event rentals, and Long Island and New York City's most popular entertainment businesses, offering dynamic bands, Djs, full audio-visual packages, party games, and more. Each event is professionally handled thanks to their white-glove service style. There is no detail or request that is too big or small for them, and they also provide Kosher catering for any event.

The property opened in January 2010 with a mission rooted in conservation: to set aside working prairie land and share its character with visitors. Over the years it has grown to include restored trails, lodging, and dedicated event facilities, all shaped by that original commitment to the land. The Blue Sage Barn is the venue's signature event space — a fully renovated equestrian barn accommodating up to 125 seated guests or 175 for receptions. It features a wraparound covered veranda, a private park with firepit, built-in audio, large-format projection, adjustable lighting, and a professional catering kitchen. For smaller gatherings, the RetreatHouse Meeting Room seats up to 28 and expands to 40 with banquet configuration — suited for corporate retreats, team-building programs, board meetings, and private gatherings. Father-daughter owners Don Mercer and Amanda Jackson took over and renovated the property in 2015 after Amanda was married there in 2014, and have since hosted more than 250 weddings on site. The venue offers three areas to choose from, including a covered and heated pavilion, making it suited to both rustic and elegant celebrations in any season. A rustic log cabin on the property gives wedding parties space to get ready before the ceremony. Beyond weddings, The Pick Inn hosts receptions, corporate events, company picnics, reunions, showers, and birthday parties, with in-house services spanning catering, floral design through Pick Inn Petals, DJ services, and full setup and teardown coordination.

The property traces its origins to the 1800s as the Longview Black Jack Farm, and the Club officially opened in October 2003 after the development of a Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course on land that Nicklaus himself described as seeming always meant to be home to a great golf course. Old-world European architecture — shaped by founder Mel Graham's extensive travels throughout Europe — defines the 28,000-square-foot Clubhouse, giving the property a character that withstands the test of time and improves with age. The Clubhouse holds several distinct event spaces, including the Graham Ballroom, which seats 200 guests for a sit-down dinner or accommodates 250 for a standing reception; the intimate Wine Cellar with its wine country murals and old-world atmosphere; the Garden Room with access to a back terrace; and the TCL Board Room for meetings and smaller private gatherings. The Club hosts weddings, rehearsal dinners, bridal showers, engagement parties, corporate meetings, and private dinners throughout the year. Events are supported by a dedicated coordination team, and the Executive Chef builds menus around fresh, seasonally available ingredients — offering a rotating selection that blends enduring favorites with distinctive preparations not commonly found elsewhere.
