    • Spaces for 400 Guests

Housed in a restored 1903 building in Columbia, South Carolina, 701 Whaley began as the company store for the area's textile mills and, by 1909, had become the community center for mill workers — known simply as "The Y," complete with a bowling alley, gymnasium, and dance hall. After decades of decline and a partial roof collapse led the city to condemn the building, a team of local developers purchased and restored the 55,000-square-foot structure, which is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Today the venue offers a range of distinct event spaces within the historic building, from the Grand Hall's floor-to-ceiling windows and Grand Staircase to the Granby Room's street-level glass storefront and original wood columns. The Olympia Room, on the second floor, retains its original hardwood floors and 17-foot ceilings, while The Pool — a 1918 space reopened in 2022 — features a glass floor, soaring windows, and hand-laid mosaic tile skylit from above. An adjacent Market building adds an indoor-outdoor setting with garage doors that open onto a covered, festively lit porch. 701 Whaley also anchors the 701 Center for Contemporary Art and a community of live/work lofts and artist studios, giving events at the venue a backdrop of working galleries and local art. Renters are free to bring in the caterer and bartending service of their choice, and spaces can accommodate gatherings from an intimate 50 guests to a venue-wide event for 1,000.

    The Exchange

    Charleston, SC, USA

After many months of research, planning, and renovation, the Exchange finally opened its doors in January of 2019. It originated from the wish to establish a productive space for the mobile workers who live and operate within our densely populated and rapidly expanding community. The office and co-working space was purposefully designed to inspire and connect people, making it an ideal setting for the hard-working minds that are concentrated in our enormously influential region. We are the type of self-employed individuals who are looking for a reasonable office space. The rapidly expanding team of a startup that is not quite ready to move into a corporate office. The person who believes they can "work from home" but finds out there is no such thing in reality. The real estate agent, attorney, or business networker who requires executive office services. Do you require a large amount of space for the event? The Exchange is more than 5,000 square feet in size and features hardwood floors, vaulted ceilings, a grand fireplace, beautiful porches, and a variety of other amenities. When you combine that with dressing rooms, a kitchen, a wet bar, and parking, you have everything you need to host a wedding, a business event, or a private party in the near future.

    The Bend Charleston

3775 Azalea Dr, North Charleston, SC 29405, USA

A 20-acre community development along the storied Ashley River, The Bend represents a fresh way of thinking about how we live and form connections. The Bend's history began with a series of land grants given out by Lord Proprietors in the 1600s. The area along the historic Ashley River's bend has gone by a number of names over the past nearly 300 years, including Stock Prior, Quarter House, Accabee Plantation, Ryedale, Anna Brae, Malona, and most recently Ashley Shores, a privately owned community. The Pearlstine Company submitted a bid on the property in 2015 with the intention of renovating it. The Bend pays homage to the Ashley River's wide bend as well as the changing character of Charleston. The Bend underwent a multi-year change under the direction of Susan Pearlstine, a native of Charleston who is also an entrepreneur, business owner, philanthropist, environmentalist, community activist, and developer. Even now, the Bend is still changing. The Bend has become one of the most coveted event locations in the Charleston area as the neighborhood has safely gathered there for drive-in movies, distant graduation ceremonies, political rallies, and one of the first venues in the nation to welcome back well-known musicians for socially-distant concerts.

Our distinctive Lowcountry cuisine, which was originally pioneered right beneath our roof, is a perfect match for our 300-year-old address. Trista Hoffman, our Special Events Coordinator, will ensure that your next event is a success. Three restaurateurs developed a vision in 1982 to create a dining experience that was uniquely "Charleston," with a focus on fresh, local cuisine and courteous service. They had the perfect location in the Historic French Quarter, with three buildings and a garden courtyard, but they couldn't come up with a name. With the urgency of launching looming, Harvey Poole, Joe Sliker, and Chef Steve Kish agreed to name the restaurant after the street location. As a result, one of Charleston's oldest and most renowned restaurants was born... Queen number 82! One may imagine that a 39-year-old spectacular original would be lost in the shuffle as Charleston's culinary culture gains international attention and hot young chefs launch trendy new restaurants. Customers seeking an authentic Lowcountry experience continue to fill 82 Queen's 11 dining rooms as it sticks to its original objective of serving fresh local cuisine.
