It's a location where a softly running river replaces the steady stream of interruptions, and the harsh sounds of city traffic give way to chirping birds and croaking frogs. Dr Snyder's Drugless Health Sanatorium, which included the structure that is now Inn on the River, was part of a unique complex known as Dr Snyder's Drugless Health Sanatorium at the turn of the century. Snyder, who advertised himself as a "magnetic healer," was well aware that people enjoy being pampered. He fed them well, gave them hot baths and cozy chambers, and generally treated them with the type of personal attention that made them want to come back again and again. The Inn now has a prized Texas historical monument. Although much has changed throughout the years, Dr. Snyder's spirit has not. Because of our modest size, we can respond to the specific demands of your small party. Sea Star Base Galveston is a nonprofit maritime and aquatics campus set on 10 acres along Offatt's Bayou and Galveston Bay, founded by Captain Charles and Rosemary Doolin as a sailing center that grew into a full waterfront complex. The LEED Platinum-certified, fully handicapped-accessible facility includes a fleet of 39 boats, a seagoing classroom, a swimming pool, and a modern marina, alongside its mission to deliver marine, maritime, and aquatics-based education for youth and adults. The campus doubles as an event venue for weddings, corporate gatherings, and community celebrations. Couples can exchange vows in an open-air chapel overlooking the marinas of Offatt's Bayou, while The Commodore banquet hall offers floor-to-ceiling views of Galveston Bay, where dolphins can often be spotted in the water, for dinners, dances, and galas. The Student Union at Hubbard Hall serves as the hub of student and campus activities at Texas Woman's University in Denton, Texas. Housed in one of the busiest buildings on campus, the facility includes 25 meeting rooms, the 295-seat Bridges Auditorium, and two large ballrooms suited to receptions, banquets, and conferences of varying scale. The Southwest Ballroom is the building's largest event space, seating up to 640 guests banquet-style or accommodating up to 1,000 in a theater configuration, and can also be divided into Southwest Ballroom A and Southwest Ballroom B for smaller gatherings. The Southeast Ballroom offers a more intimate setting for banquets and meetings. Chateau Bellevue is a Victorian-era mansion in downtown Austin, built in 1874 and expanded in 1892 under owner Major Ira Hobart Evans, a Union Army veteran and the youngest Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives. Its stained glass windows and intricate wooden detailing make it one of the last remaining examples of Victorian architecture in the city, and it holds both Texas Historic Landmark (1965) and City of Austin Historic Landmark (1974) status. The venue has been owned and operated by the Austin Woman's Club, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, since 1929. The mansion offers a sequence of spaces for weddings and private events, from the Grand Entryway Foyer with its stained glass and hand-carved woodwork to the Grand Ballroom, which seats up to 175 guests beneath hardwood flooring and a raised stage for a band or DJ. Outdoors, the brick Ceremony Courtyard seats up to 165 guests facing its magnolia tree, or up to 150 facing the Chateau itself, with an adjoining terrace suited to cocktail hour. Limestone entryways and balconies overlooking the downtown skyline offer additional backdrops for photography.
